USB DACs can now play every song at its own quality. There's cleaner sound for everyone else too, new ways to control playback, and well over a hundred fixes from a full review of the app.
🎧 Better sound
- Got a USB DAC or a USB-C headphone adapter, on Android 14 or newer? Go to Settings → Audio & Quality → Hi-Res Output and pick Match USB DAC to each song. Your DAC then plays each song at its own quality, instead of Android converting everything to 48 kHz. Bit-perfect USB goes one step further on phones that support it.
- Stash now keeps your music at full quality on its way to your speakers or headphones. Before, 24-bit songs were cut down to 16-bit inside the app, and the very end of each song was clipped. Both are fixed.
- Tap the quality line under the song title in Now Playing to see exactly what happens to the sound on its way to your ears.
- EQ changes take effect faster.
👆 New in Now Playing
- Swipe the album art left or right to skip. Double-tap its left or right side to jump back or forward 10 seconds.
- Swipe the mini player to skip.
- Up next shows the next song under the controls. Tap it to open the queue.
- The sleep timer counts down on the moon icon, and a bubble shows the time while you drag the progress bar.
- Removed a song from the queue by mistake? Tap Undo.
- Lyrics show a ♪ ♪ ♪ row during instrumental breaks, and you can set the lyrics timing once for a device (handy for Bluetooth headphones that lag).
📚 Library
- A Now playing button takes you back to the song that's playing when you've scrolled away from it.
- Remove download now has an Undo.
- An empty library shows you the ways to add music.
🔄 Sync
- Undo last sync now puts everything back, including playlists the sync hid, and hides playlists it added. It then pauses auto-sync until you tap Sync, so the change isn't redone overnight.
- Tapping Sync with no connection says Waiting for network… and starts by itself when you're back online.
- An account that needs signing in again shows a Reconnect button, and disconnecting an account asks first.
- Search says you're offline instead of "No results".
🛠️ Fixes
- Stash could empty some playlists when it started up, sometimes deleting their downloads too. Fixed.
- Two downloads could save over each other's file, and a failed re-download could leave a song with no file. Fixed.
- Pausing during a crossfade skipped to the next song. Fixed.
- A sleep timer ending during a crossfade could leave music playing, and "End of track" let the next song fade in. Fixed.
- A pause during a phone call no longer gets undone when the call ends.
- Tapping Download on a song that's already downloading lets it finish, and a download that fails from Now Playing now tells you.
- Playlist changes made on Stash on the web and on your phone at the same time are now both kept.
- Plus well over a hundred smaller fixes across playback, downloads, sync, lyrics and scrobbling.
📝 Good to know
- Bit-perfect USB depends on your phone. Many phones don't offer it and fall back to matching your DAC to each song. The sound path in Now Playing tells you which you're getting.
- In Bit-perfect mode your DAC sets the volume, so turn it down before you start.
