The web player at stashfm.app is in early access.
Stash on the web, and a new Now Playing
Link Stash with the web player. Open Settings → Library & Storage → Link Stash on the web, tap Scan code and point your phone at the code in the web player. You'll see the same six-digit code on both screens, and then they're linked. You don't need an account, and what you send stays encrypted between your phone and your browser.
Once linked:
- Pick up where you left off. Stop on your phone and carry on in your browser at the same spot, with the same queue. It works the other way round too.
- Choose what goes. Send your likes, any of your playlists and your play history, all of it or just some.
- Keep them in step, if you want. Mirroring is off until you turn it on. You choose what stays matched between the two: likes, plays, and each playlist.
You can link up to 4 browsers, and remove any of them, or unlink everything, from the same screen. To move your library by file instead, use Settings → Library & Storage → Export for Stash on the web.
🎯 What's new
- A new Now Playing. The cover is bigger and softly lit by its own colours, and the tab bar gets out of the way.
- Pick your buttons. Tap ⋮ → Edit on Now Playing to choose what sits at the top of the screen and what stays in the menu: Radio, Queue, Lyrics, Cast, Share, Playback speed and the rest. Out of the box it's Radio · ⋮ · Queue.
- Full-screen lyrics. Lyrics now open over the moving glow, and you can scroll back and tap any line to jump there. Sync offset and "Save with song file" live in the lyrics menu. Every song can open lyrics from ⋮ → Lyrics, even with the lyrics bar hidden.
- Play on a speaker. Send what's playing to a Chromecast or Google Cast speaker from ⋮ → Cast, or pin Cast to the top of Now Playing. While the speaker is paused, your phone stops keeping itself awake, to save battery. Thanks to @devRoemer (#559, #569).
- A glass mini player. It floats above the tabs, takes on the colours of the album playing, and has a queue button, so you can see what's next from any screen.
- The Stash logo and the tabs follow the music. While a song plays, they pick up its colours.
✨ Smaller improvements
- Sharper album art on Now Playing, the notification, the lock screen and Android Auto. Stash now asks for the large version of each cover. If that can't load, you still see the cover you had.
- Downloaded songs carry sharper covers inside the file, for other players too.
- Lyrics show up sooner. They're fetched as a song starts, so they're ready when you open Now Playing, and songs from radio no longer wait half a minute for theirs.
- Song titles in Library stay readable. A song with a quality badge and several sources no longer has its title squeezed to "…".
📝 Heads-up
- Playback speed moved into ⋮ on Now Playing. To keep it at the top of the screen, tap ⋮ → Edit and pin Playback speed.
