Clearing the backlog
This release is all about your issues. We went through the open reports and the backlog one by one, and nearly everything here started with one of you telling us what went wrong or what you wished Stash could do.
Thank you. So many of you wrote detailed reports: the steps that caused a problem, screenshots, your phone and settings, and diagnostics logs attached. That detail is often the only way to find a bug that never shows up on our own phones. The surprise FLAC files, JioSaavn never delivering, and Fetch lyrics getting stuck on the same songs were all tracked down this way. This is what open source is about: real people using the app every day, taking the time to report what they find, and making it better for everyone.
Keep them coming. If something isn't right, Settings → About & Help → Share diagnostics attaches everything we need to your report.
🎯 What's new
- A Download button on playlists and mixes (#474). It sits under Play All and Shuffle on your own playlists, your Spotify and YouTube playlists and mixes, and mixes you follow. It shows Downloading 5 of 7 while songs come in, then Downloaded. New songs added to the playlist later download too. Tap it again to stop. The songs you already have stay on your phone.
- Choose where Stash opens (#428). Start on Home, Library or Search: Settings → Appearance → Open Stash on.
- Auto-sync works every day. Before, it could run once and then stop, and Sync now did nothing while Auto-sync was on. Both are fixed.
✨ Smaller improvements
- Your settings always win (#521). Songs from Stash's own mixes, like Daily Discover, now follow your Lossless and Lossy fallback switches like every other song. No more surprise FLAC files when you picked a smaller size.
- JioSaavn works, and follows your quality (#484). When a song has no lossless match, Stash tries JioSaavn before YouTube, which helps with Indian and Bollywood music most. Until now it almost never delivered a song. Now it does, at the size your Download quality asks for. Streams follow Save Data.
- Search shows the right artist, and no longer shows "0:00" for every song. Matching songs on YouTube is also faster and finds more when you aren't signed in to YouTube Music.
- Last.fm and ListenBrainz count the time you actually listened. Time spent paused no longer counts toward a scrobble.
- Sharing diagnostics tells us more, so we can fix your problem faster: which source played each song, playback errors, and what's waiting to run in the background. Find it in Settings → About & Help → Share diagnostics. The log no longer fills up with noise on Samsung phones.
🐛 Bug fixes
- Some YouTube downloads failed for people signed in to YouTube Music. Thanks to @ParaliyzedEvo.
- Fetch lyrics for your whole library now moves on to new songs after an interrupted run, instead of retrying the same ones. Thanks to @ParaliyzedEvo.
- A song downloaded from Search that had to come from YouTube was sometimes saved as a large video file. It's saved as audio at your quality now.
- Blocking a song now updates the song count on every playlist that had it.
- Play All and Shuffle no longer wrap onto two lines on smaller phones.
Install
Download the .apk below and open it on your Android device. If you've got a previous Stash release installed, this upgrades in place — your library, sync history, and settings are preserved.
