Changes in RapidOS v1.0 Beta 2

Major Changes:

  • Added the ability to roll back changes made by RapidOS during installation through Post-Install.
  • Added support for build 22621 (Windows 11 22H2).
  • Reduced the number of disabled services to improve stability. Users of Beta 1 can restore services by simply installing this playbook. These services do not affect performance as they run only when required by corresponding applications.
  • Added a script to manage indexing, including activation, deactivation, and minimal indexing (minimal indexing is enabled by default).
  • Fixed Edge browser restoration caused by leftover MS Edge Update files.
  • Added optimization for Firefox and Microsoft Edge browsers (Chromium browsers like Chrome or Brave are not yet supported).
  • File system optimized.
  • Replaced Chocolatey with winget for better component installation.
  • Added RapidOS wallpaper to the lock screen based on the selected theme (Dark or Light).
  • Fixed slideshow being paused by power schemes.
  • Organized a playbook to work correctly with RapidOS Toolbox (based on the RapidScripts folder).
  • SSD optimization no longer disables Sysmain and svsvc for both SSDs and HDDs, but added prioritization for SysMain service (set to below normal to reduce CPU load).
  • Improved internet security: disabled insecure ciphers, unsafe .NET connections, and enabled secure keys (details in refinements/network/security).
  • Environment variables are cleared of empty entries at every system startup.
  • PowerShell execution policy is set to "Restricted" by default for enhanced security.
  • Fully fixed clearing of the Start menu and taskbar.
  • Removed unstable bcdedit and Network Shell launch parameters due to potential instability and incompatibility.
  • Quick Assist app removed. Apps like Notes, Dev Home, Recall/Copilot, Office, Voice Recorder, Alarm, and Camera remain in the system and will not be removed in future versions.
  • Redesigned .NET 3.5 installation previously done via DISM.
  • Fixed notifications for built-in Windows apps.
  • Restored permissions for built-in apps to access photos and videos.
  • Start menu in Windows 11 is now centered.
  • RapidOS themes and wallpapers are visible in the personalization settings.
  • Fixed mouse sensitivity settings in Windows.
  • Improved disabling of Windows updates: no more outdated ReviOS parameters, Xbox works correctly.
  • Fixed internet speed display in Task Manager and related settings issues.
  • Disabling unnecessary Autologgers no longer causes BSODs.
  • Restored the old search icon from Windows 10.
  • Installed PowerShell 7 (not set as default, but significantly better than the standard version).
  • Copilot and Recall disabled (not removed).
  • Added cleanup of the WinSxS folder to reduce system space usage.
  • MS Edge WebView is no longer removed as it is used not only by Edge.
  • Redesigned power schemes: Balanced (Laptop Friendly), High Performance (Recommended), and Maximum Performance (Risk of Issues). Maximum Performance includes power schemes for Intel and AMD (two for each OS). BSODs and system instability may occur.
  • Xbox Game Bar enabled, as disabling it reduces performance on the latest AMD processors.
  • Completely disabled Windows 11 suggestions.
  • RAM volume check enabled for visual effects configuration: if less than 8 GB, minimal effects are applied; if more, animations are enabled.
  • Windows no longer enforces password changes every month.

Data Collection and Ads:

  • Significantly improved privacy compared to Beta 1.
  • Disabled data collection in Task Scheduler.
  • Removed all ads in Windows.
  • Fixed auto-download of Spotify, Yandex Music, and other unwanted apps through MS Store.
  • Disabled antivirus telemetry.
  • Disabled recommendations in the Start menu.
  • Turned off transient advertising IDs in settings.
  • Removed Microsoft account ads for local users in the Start menu.

Custom Features:

  • Fully disabled Windows Defender without identified flaws (https://github.com/instead1337/Defender-Switcher).
  • Option to enable/disable the firewall without negatively affecting MS Store functionality.
  • Option to enable/disable Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities (to improve performance on older processors if security is not a priority).
  • Option to enable or disable Windows synchronization.
  • Core Isolation option removed - disabled by default but can be enabled via Windows Defender settings or RapidOS Toolbox.
  • UAC enable/disable option removed; UAC background is now "transparent."

This is clearly not the full changelog. I might have missed some points, but I chose not to dwell on it, as most people won’t read it anyway. From the changelog, you might not fully grasp how significantly the playbook has changed, but I can confidently say this is the best update for RapidOS yet. Good luck!
