v2.2.8 — a second theme, and every add-on brought current

latest release: v2.2.9

A new choice for DirectX 11 games that ignore dxgi.dll, NVIDIA's newest DLSS runtime, and every fix promised on the tracker since 2.2.7.

✨ New

  • ReShade as d3d11.dll. Some DirectX 11 games never load dxgi.dll, so ReShade never started. The game page now has a ReShade file choice for DirectX 11 games: pick d3d11.dll and press Install. A game that is already installed is switched over for you (#328).
  • A second theme. Settings → Theme now holds two complete designs, and switching is instant. Theme 1 · Classic is the app you know, untouched. Theme 2 · Aperture is a new one, built from nothing: navigation runs across the top instead of down the side, a command bar searches everything (Ctrl K), a game opens as a full page with its own artwork behind it rather than a dialog, and motion carries the whole thing - pages morph into each other, cards light up under the pointer, and everything that moves rides the same spring. Light and dark work inside either theme.
  • DLSS 310.9.1. The app now carries NVIDIA's newest DLSS runtime, with the second-generation Ray Reconstruction model (Preset F).
  • Safe graphics mode. If the window flickers or keeps showing parts of what was there before scrolling, switch it on in Settings and the app draws without the graphics card (#365).
  • Every add-on brought up to date. DLSS5-Feeder 1.17.0 (from 0.15.1): an output stabiliser that stops a still part of the picture from drifting after the camera stops - both of its controls are in the F8 panel - plus a same-device D3D12 session that no longer collides with a game's own DLSS, a readable message instead of a shader error on DirectX 9, and 32-bit Vulkan games under Wine/Proton stopping cleanly. RenoDX DLSS 5 6.5.3 (from v4.7) and the DLSS Tool build of 2026-09-28 for the multipass route.
  • A second OptiScaler to choose from, per game. The OptiScaler build list on the game page now also offers the pre-SR multipass fork, pinned at 0.8.92. It runs the neural model before the upscaler with its own Style, Intensity, structure and skin controls for each of up to three passes; it can squeeze the periphery of the frame to spend less on it (measured upstream at 10-12% less model time at 4K, 18% with model resolution at 85%); and below 100% model resolution it rebuilds lighting and colour instead of stretching the result. The build pinned here is the DLSS5-Feeder author's, which fixes what the model is handed below 100% and the motion-vector length in games that upscale - the two things that made every resolution under 100% flicker. Nothing changes unless you pick it: the current build stays the default, per game, and switching back is one choice on the same list. The two are different packages of the same idea, so switching takes the other one's forwarder DLL away first - left behind, it stops the neural pass without a word anywhere - and Restore originals puts everything back either way.
  • The driver warning is gone, because the fault is. Every install on driver 616.64 or newer opened with a warning that the neural pass would fault inside NVIDIA's runtime. That was the v4.7 consumer, not the driver: the 6.x build this release carries passes the same 300-evaluate self-test on 617.14 upstream. The question is now asked only about a build known to fault, which means nobody on a current driver is asked at all (#54 upstream).
  • Multipass for emulators. PCSX2 and the other emulators are now offered the multipass route as well. The Feeder is still the recommended one (#359).

🔧 Fixed

Multipass did nothing in games without DLSS The tool needs NVIDIA's Streamline files beside the game, and only games with DLSS of their own ship them. The multipass route now copies them in, and Restore originals takes them out again. A game's own Streamline is never touched (#336, #239)
A newer DLSS was replaced with an older one A game that already carried a newer DLSS than the app's got ours instead. A newer file now stays where it is (#329)
"The panel does not attach on renodx/DirectX 11" The overlay message read like a fault. It now says the one reason that applies: a 32-bit game, the multipass or OptiScaler route, or an API the overlay does not run on (#338)
Where are the multipass settings? After a multipass install the log says where: press Home in game and open the RenoDX DLSS tab. For a game without DLSS it also says to turn off Require DLSS and set Hook Method to Present (#336)
Reports did not say which DirectX they used Every report inside a card now names its API (#337)
"SWAPER" on the icon It says SWAPPER now (#326)
The app contacted our server before anyone opened Community A fresh install polled for notifications eight seconds after launch. Opening Community is now the opt-in, and until then this app asks our server for nothing at all (#358)
OptiScaler would not download Two minutes was the whole transfer's budget, so a slow or filtered connection failed every time. It now has ten minutes and three attempts (#370, #373)
A game card could only be closed from the top Reading to the bottom of a card left the close button far above. A click on the dimmed area around it closes it now (#372)
The F8 panel and a newer RenoDX The panel drives the neural controls by recognising the exact add-on build, so the newer consumer in this release would have left every control dark and said nothing. It knows both builds now, opens the sections 6.x files its controls under, and writes what it found - the build, how many controls it read, and which check refused - into the game's own ReShade.log
A game with a DX11 and a DX12 build showed only one Both executables have the same name, and the second was dropped for good. Both are in the picker now (#355)

📦 Components

NVIDIA DLSS (Super Resolution / Ray Reconstruction / Frame Generation) 310.9.1
DLSS5-Feeder 1.17.0
RenoDX DLSS5 (native and Feeder routes) 6.5.3 — 342341f6…
RenoDX DLSS Tool (multipass route) build 2026-09-28, shipped as supplied — 25600017…
OptiScaler DLSS-NR 0.2.0-patch1, or the pre-SR multipass fork 0.8.92, or 0.1.1.5-dlssnr per game
ReShade / dgVoodoo2 6.8.0 / 2.87.4

⚠️ Requirements

  • Windows 10/11, 64-bit. RTX 20/30/40/50 series. DX12, DX11 and DX9 titles through the ReShade, Feeder and multipass routes; the F8 overlay itself is DX11/DX12 only.
  • Any current NVIDIA driver. 616.64 and newer faulted with the old v4.7 consumer; the 6.5.3 build in this release is measured upstream as completing on 617.14, and the app no longer warns.
  • Anti-cheat protected games may reject add-ons. Restore originals puts a game back exactly as it was.
  • The Community page and chat are BETA and opt-in. Notifications can be switched off in Settings.
