github r0fld4nc3/Stellaris-Exe-Checksum-Patcher v3.0.0-pre

latest release: v2.2.2
pre-release6 hours ago

Warning

This is a pre-release. It introduces a completely new patching system. It has been tested on Stellaris 4.5.2 (Windows and Linux) but may still have rough edges. Please report any issues on GitHub.

Added

  • Automatic patching. The Patcher now finds the game's checksum checks by itself, directly from the game executable. Game updates should no longer break patching or require waiting for new patterns.
  • Support for Stellaris 4.5.x.
  • The Patcher now detects whether the selected game executable is for Windows or Linux and applies the right patch, regardless of the system you're running on. For example, you can patch the Linux executable from macOS.

Changed

  • The separate Checksum, Warning and Tooltip patches are now a single patch. It enables achievements, hides the yellow version text and the checksum tooltip warning, and stops the crash reporter from flagging the game as modified.
  • New patch configuration file (patterns_v2.json). Older versions of the Patcher keep using the previous file and continue to work as before.
  • Updated the welcome guide to explain the new patching process.

Fixes

  • Fixed the Patcher always reporting the game as not patched on startup.
  • Fixed patching reporting a failure when patch selections saved by an older version no longer existed.
  • Fixed patching reporting success when no patches were available for the selected platform.
  • Fixed a crash on macOS when the game could not be located automatically.
  • Fixed a possible freeze on startup right after updating, when the patch configuration file had not been downloaded yet.

Improved

  • Patching is faster: only the bytes that change are written to the game executable.
  • Removed unused settings.

Known Limitations

  • macOS isn't fully supported yet.

⚠️ Antivirus False Positives

Some antivirus software may flag this executable as malware. This is a false positive. The binary is compiled with Nuitka, which is commonly flagged due to its use in malware distribution, not because this application is malicious. The source code is open for review, and you can compile it yourself if desired.

See Issue #39 or README for more information.
