HPmini: [1] api › nvim), the left-edge slot herdr's own tab bar offers no status area for.HOST_PREFIXenables it;HOST_PREFIX_SEP(default": ") joins the host to the label, andHOST_PREFIX_STRIPremoves substrings from the hostname first, so a fleet naming prefix (Omarchy-) keeps the short machine name on the tab. While the knob is on, an evaluation that ends with no hostname still shows the separator alone (": [1] fish"), telling a broken hostname apart from the feature being off. The tag is derived fromuname -nand the config on every pass and never read back, and the naming store records which labels carry a tag: a tag comes off again only a row the store says we tagged, or everything does underclear, so switching the knob off takes it back off exactly the tabs the plugin tagged and a hand-typed name that happens to start with the machine name is never touched, with the knob on or off. A tag spelled under rules nobody can recompute any more (a deleted config, a changed separator) comes off while its outline still ends at the separator ahead of the tab number, or not untilclear. Editing the separator mid-session is safe: a tab the plugin still names heals to the new spelling at the next event, and one it no longer names keeps the tag it carries rather than gaining another per edit, withresetthe way out. The preexec fast path peels and carries the tag by the same rule, so the first tab neither flashes it off between a command and the next reconcile nor freezes on it once the knob goes off.
