You know it: even faster startup! This version uses a custom bootloader to cut pre-kernel boot time. Overall about a 30% speedup across all models. The total boot time is now 3.16 sec vs. 4.2 sec of the previous release, though it varies from device to device. The RG34XXSP sees the biggest speedup, while the RG SP and RG40XXV have the fastest boot times.
How to update
- Updating: copy
baseos-<your model>-1.5.1.bosupdto the card and turn the device on. It updates and restarts by itself. The first boot after updating will install the optimised kernel (if needed) and bootloader. It'll take only a few seconds. Note, this version is marked pre-release, so your auto-updater apps will not pick it up. You have to download and copy the .bosupd file yourself. - New card: flash
baseos-<your model>-1.5.1.img.zip.
If the screen stays black after a restart, press the reset button.
Please note
This is an experimental release.
The new boot loader attempts to auto-detect the RAM and panel type, but it can still fail. I only have a handful of test devices: the RG40XX V, RG34XX SP, RG28XX and RG SP are all tested OK, but you may have a variant that fails.
It's generally safe though: if the faster startup can't start your device, it goes back to the normal startup by itself. But please report any real problems like blank screen, unable to boot etc. in the Issues section of this repo along with exactly which device you have.
