Calibre Zen 0.4.0, on calibre 9.15.0.
Your library can now live on a home server, and sharing from the app holds up when several people read at once.
What changed
Added
- A Docker image for your home server. It serves your library to any web browser, on a phone, tablet or computer, with no desktop needed. It runs on Intel and ARM servers, can ask for a login, and adds books you drop in a folder. The Docker guide has a ready Compose file.
Fixed
- Sharing over the network is more reliable. With a few people reading at once, some pages used to fail to load. Now every page loads.
- Sharing no longer freezes. Changing a book while others were browsing could stop the server for good, until the app was closed. That can no longer happen.
Coming next
- Sharing from the menubar. A small menubar app that shares your library with no window open is built, and comes to the installers in a later version.
Installing
The packages are calibre's own 9.15.0 builds with Calibre Zen's Python laid over them. Nothing is recompiled.
