Fixes #579: audio-only primary playlists no longer fail at the saving step because FFmpeg requires a video stream. The fix covers primary audio on its own and a separately selected audio track, while preserving video and excluding metadata streams.
Verified locally
- Added two native FFmpeg regressions. Each failed before its corresponding fix and passes afterward.
- Passed 20 real audio-only browser cases in Brave MV3 and Firefox MV2: six reproduce v5.5.4 failures, and fourteen verify complete fixed exports.
- Covered AAC in TS and fMP4, explicit and implicit encryption IVs, clear lead-ins, initialization keys, and alternate audio selection.
- Every fixed audio-only export decodes fully, has all 376 audio frames, and matches the source HLS audio hash exactly. The alternate-track case uses a different tone and verifies that the selected track is saved.
- Passed the 16-case encrypted video/audio browser matrix after the fix, including all 200 source video frames and full decoded audio.
- Passed all 319 automated tests, workspace typechecking, the security gate, all six archive checks, and Firefox lint with zero errors and six existing warnings.
- Added
pnpm test:e2e:audiofor repeatable local validation.
Known limitations
- The reporter's URL currently returns HTTP 403. The failure was reproduced and fixed using equivalent local primary audio playlists.
- The existing truncation bug when muxing separate video/audio with WebVTT subtitles remains unresolved. This release does not claim to fix it.
- GitHub Firefox XPIs are unsigned builds for temporary installation through
about:debugging. Firefox Add-ons availability depends on a separate Mozilla signing and review process.
