v1.1.0-beta.6
The sixth beta of 1.1. The biggest piece is Happy Hare 4.0 support: multi-unit rigs, the
renamed settings and the per-unit hardware rules all work now, and clog detection settings
finally reach the printer on every Happy Hare release. You can also pick objects to skip
from the file details before a print starts, and the filament buffer gets its own home
widget and status screen. On the BTT K-Touch you can add printers and switch between them
without a restart, and a long run of connection fixes keeps it on Moonraker over a weak
Wi-Fi link. The rest is a faster Home screen, heater and graph improvements, buzzer sound
cleanup and an installer logo.
Upgrading from beta.5?
- The number pad is now phone-style (1-2-3 on top). Settings > Touch & Input > Number
Pad Layout switches it back to Calculator. - The filament buffer left the Clog Detection widget. That widget now shows the clog
detector alone; add the new Filament Buffer widget to see the buffer. - Buzzers no longer play music. Printers with a buzzer still play every UI tone, but the
Test Tracker and other music controls are hidden unless the printer has a sound card.
Added
Filament systems
- Happy Hare 4.0 support (#1479) - HelixScreen reads Happy Hare 4's new config layout, so
tip method, heater limits and speed defaults load and the device actions no longer sit on
"Loading configuration". Multi-unit rigs show each unit with its own gate count, name,
topology and heaters, and commands carry theUNIT=Happy Hare 4 requires. Actions and
settings go to a unit that actually has the servo, selector, encoder or buffer they need,
and ones no unit supports are disabled. Bypass shows only when a unit has one, each gate's
entry sensor and eSpooler state read correctly, and settings sliders send Happy Hare 4's
renamed parameters. Happy Hare 3 is unchanged. - Filament Buffer home widget - an upright buffer slider with the reading beside it,
coloured by how far it is from target. At 2x1 the last minute scrolls out of the slider
and the lean is said in words (Running tight, Running loose, Balanced). Works with Happy
Hare sync feedback, AFC and OpenAMS pressure sensors. - Buffer Status screen - tapping the widget, the loaded-spool card or the path diagram
opens a live view of the buffer feeding the toolhead: a tall slider, the reading and
target, the last minute, and the filament system's own details. - The loaded-spool card and the path diagram show the buffer - a small slider beside
the material on the card, and the buffer box on the path diagram recolours live.
Printing
- Skip objects before a print starts - the file details screen has the same skip button
as the print status screen. Pick objects from the list, the map or the 3D render, and they
are excluded as soon as Moonraker confirms the start. Picking every object refuses the
start, and queuing the file instead of printing drops the picks and says so. Needs
[exclude_object]on the printer.
Home screen
- Set a heater target from the thermistor widget - tapping a tile bound to a
heater_generic or temperature_fan opens the temperature keypad, and the tile shows current
and target. The keypad limit is the heater's own max_temp. - Filament dryer and other generic heaters on the temperature graph - heater_generic
objects other than the chamber are graphed, with history, on the graph screen and the home
graph widget.
BTT K-Touch (alpha)
- Add printers and switch between them - Add Printer and the printer switcher work on the
K-Touch, and a switch reconnects live instead of restarting the board. If the board is too
short on memory to switch safely it restarts into the chosen printer instead. A newly found
printer is named from Mainsail, Fluidd or its hostname.
Settings
- Number pad layout - Settings > Touch & Input > Number Pad Layout picks Phone (default)
or Calculator. The phone layout puts a confirm key in the pad on whole-number fields, and
the unit now sits inside the display. - PWM buzzer on any Linux board - a passive buzzer on a hardware PWM pin works on a Pi or
any other board by settingsound.pwm_channelin settings.json, orHELIX_PWM_SOUNDto
override it. - Add Printer can save a printer that is off - if Test has not passed, Save asks
"Can't reach this printer. Save anyway?" instead of being disabled.
Installer
- The installer shows the HelixScreen logo - as a real image in kitty, iTerm2 and sixel
terminals, and as block art everywhere else. chafa is no longer needed.
Fixed
Filament systems
- Happy Hare clog detection settings now work - the clog detection mode and length never
reached the printer on any Happy Hare release, because the parameter names were wrong. Each
release now gets the names it accepts, and the clog settings dialog pre-fills the configured
length and sends it only when you change it. - Happy Hare whole-machine heater start and stop sends one command per heated unit, and a
partly failed dry stops the units it started. - Switching printers clears the old filament system - after changing host or switching
away from an AFC, Happy Hare or other filament system printer, its lanes, the
Multi-Filament card and the home widgets no longer stay on screen. - The loaded-spool card fits on small screens - the colour bar narrows and the meter labels
hide below the medium size, so the material name keeps its line at 480x320.
Printing
- Pre-print progress for silent PRINT_START macros - a macro that prints no status (a
Voron V0, for example) now shows homing and purging, counts the bed heat down from a real
estimate, and learns its length for next time. Macros that clean the nozzle before meshing
keep their leveling time. - QIDI .3mf prints keep their thumbnail on the print status screen instead of showing an
error toast, including Q2 plates and names in any case. - The objects button on the print status screen appears and hides as the printer's
[exclude_object]support is discovered or changes. - Print Files no longer reloads every 5 seconds when a file name appears twice in the list,
and those cards no longer show a blank name.
Printer switching and Change Host
- Leaving a printer that is printing asks first, and deleting the connected printer while
it prints switches without asking twice. - A switch shows the new printer's state - the previous printer's job, message,
temperatures and history are cleared, a file or thumbnail download from the old printer
never lands on the new one, and a same-named file on each printer gets its own thumbnail. - The connection-failed prompt waits while the printer list is open, so a tap meant for
a printer no longer lands on Change Address, and it is dropped once you pick a printer. - Printer names stay with their printer - a name that resolves late goes to the printer
it was asked for, never recreates a deleted printer, and a lost connection no longer saves
the hostname as the name. - The printer list's connection dot shows only on the connected printer, in its live
colour, and the switch toast says Switched to rather than Connected to. - Change Host fixes - leaving the dialog after Test reconnects the saved printer, editing
the address clears the old status message, a blank address is refused before Save anyway,
and adding a printer that already exists switches to it instead of duplicating it. - A printer's saved default Home layout is read back instead of rebuilt after a switch.
Screens
- Temperature graph legend has its own row, so a trace near the top of the scale no
longer runs under the legend text. - Generic heaters are named as heaters (Chamber Heater, Filament Dryer Heater), and a
chamber heater is no longer graphed twice when the chamber sensor is not reporting. - The thermistor tile shows --°C for a sensor the printer does not report, instead of 0°C.
- temperature_fan targets above 120°C are allowed up to the fan's configured max_temp.
- The Dry Filament button on the bed card is a centred outline button, and outline
buttons lose the stray shadow. - The Motion button on the Controls screen uses light text on its dark fill.
- Print status library buttons shrink to fit a short card instead of overlapping.
- The 2x1 Filament Buffer tile keeps its padding at 480x320.
Installer and updates
- Mainsail and Fluidd offer the right update channel - the app keeps the HelixScreen
update_manager channel in moonraker.conf in step with its own, so a beta install is no
longer offered a "downgrade" to stable. Moonraker restarts after the change unless a print
is running, and two screens sharing one Moonraker do not touch each other's entry. - A beta install restored from an old config backup stays on the beta channel.
- The first self-update after a fresh install no longer restarts twice.
Sound
- A PWM buzzer is never left sounding after the app exits or crashes, and quiet volume
settings no longer mute every tone. - Switching away from an AD5M stops the old printer's M300 beeper.
BTT K-Touch (alpha)
- Stays connected on weak Wi-Fi - the board keeps Wi-Fi awake instead of in power save,
print history loads ten jobs at a time and waits until the printer is discovered, a slow
large reply has 20 seconds between pieces instead of being cut off, and a link only counts
as dead when it goes fully silent. Together these stop the reconnect every 15-45 seconds
seen around -75 dBm. - Fewer restart loops - a stalled connection or discovery reconnects on its own, automatic
restarts are capped until the board has been connected for ten minutes, and the screen
never freezes waiting on a stuck connection during a switch. - Thumbnails behave on a weak link - a stalled download gives up and is tried once more,
a card that scrolls away cancels its download, loading a thumbnail no longer glitches the
screen, and scrolling back reuses recent thumbnails instead of downloading them again. - Opening Print Files no longer glitches the screen - the first open of the file list
draws without the flicker it used to show while the list loaded. - Macros and bed geometry reach the screen after discovery.
Changed
- The Home screen rebuilds much faster - the print status card builds its printing views
only during a print, and switching between printers whose layouts hold the same widgets
re-seats the tiles instead of rebuilding Home. - Scrolling redraws less - lists redraw only the rows that scrolled in, and on the K-Touch
a scroll moves what is already drawn and renders only the new strip (about three times less
work per frame). - The Macros screen opens faster.
- The Clog Detection widget shows the clog detector alone; the buffer has its own widget.
