v1.1.0-beta.5

The fifth beta of 1.1. The headline additions are SpoolmanDB search in the spool wizard,
excluded objects shown in the G-code preview, and a pass over the installer. A lot of the
rest is the BTT K-Touch: scrolling feels right, print cards and file lists stop running the
board out of memory, and Wi-Fi is steadier. Settings pages and text fields get a visual
cleanup, and a long list of fixes covers printing from rewritten files, Spoolman and config
handling.

Upgrading from beta.4?

  • Spoolman filament temperatures are one number. Spoolman stores a single temperature per
filament, so the wizard and the spool screens now show one value instead of a range.
  • The external vendor and filament catalog calls are gone. They never worked against
Spoolman. Use the new SpoolmanDB search in the spool wizard instead (needs Spoolman 0.26 or
    newer).

Added

Filament systems

  • Search SpoolmanDB from the spool wizard - type in the vendor step and matching spools
appear as you type. Picking one fills in vendor, material, colour, temperatures and weights,
and reuses a vendor and filament you already have when they match exactly. The search is
hidden on Spoolman servers older than 0.26.
  • Alarm when a print takes the machine with spools still on the bed - if spools are
latched on the bed for drying and a print starts, the screen wakes and raises an alarm
instead of letting the print start fail (#1745).

Printing

  • Excluded objects show up in the G-code preview - they are greyed out with a red hatch in
2D and 3D, and the 2D and 3D render carries numbered badges that match the object list. The
side list keeps its scroll position and puts the status beside the name in portrait.
  • Pre-print options from your PRINT_START macro - when the printer database has no
options for a printer, the print file screen builds them from what PRINT_START actually
does. Wrapper macros are followed into the macro that does the work.
  • Print history pages in older jobs - the history list loads further back as you scroll,
and the dashboard says when its stats cover only the newest prints. The K-Touch now has
print history too, so Reprint Last, the idle print card and the history marks in the file
    list work there.
  • A notification with no title leads with its message in the history list.

Home screen

  • Printer images are cleaner - the white backgrounds are cut out of four printer images,
the art is cropped to its content, there is new generic CoreXY art, and the image shrinks
slightly in pinned mode so callout leader lines still fit.
  • Plugin widgets can take half-cell sizes if the plugin asks for it.

Installer

  • The installer shows what it is doing - it detects first, prints a plan, asks once before
changing anything, and then shows each step as it runs. The log survives failures, apt and
service output goes to the log instead of the screen, and --dry-run and --verbose are
supported. --uninstall lists what it removed and what it kept.

BTT K-Touch (alpha)

  • Leaves a weak access point - when Moonraker keeps stalling on one access point, the
board moves on to another with near-equal signal.

Fixed

Filament systems

  • Spoolman deletes and missing data read correctly - a deleted spool is reported as not
found instead of Spoolman being unreachable, and a missing lane data entry reads as empty.
This now works against a real Moonraker, not just the mock.
  • Spool weight edits and new vendors save correctly - a weight edit changes the spool
instead of its filament, and a new vendor's website goes in the vendor's comment.
  • Happy Hare loads and unloads no longer flash Idle before the printer reports them (#1057).
A preheat from the sidebar cancels the previous operation's cooldown and says when a load is
    dropped.
  • The home spool row stacks the name over the spool and re-measures when it resizes.
  • Colour names - the picker's black and other near-blacks are named Black, and the
darkest ones Deep Black, instead of Dark Gray.

Printing

  • Reprint after a rewritten print - a print started from a rewritten copy reprints the
original file, keeps working after a restart, shows in history as the original's print, and
follows a print started by another client.
  • Pre-print options stay with their printer - stored settings reset when the hardware
changes, and an option the firmware already holds no longer strips the file.
  • Starting a print with spools on the bed opens the prompt instead of failing.
  • Snapmaker U1 spaghetti detection raises its modal even when the detection code arrives
    after the pause.
  • Timelapse frame counts restart with each new print and survive joining a print already
    running.
  • Bed mesh overlays and 2D touch follow the frame on screen, so the 2D view draws again
    when forced.
  • Print Files rebuilds an open detail view when a new analysis lands, and a metadata
request lost with the connection is fetched again instead of extracting the G-code.
  • Cached thumbnails that are not real PNGs are deleted and regenerated, and unknown free
space is not treated as disk pressure.
  • Thumbnails are sturdier - the active print's thumbnail is found for files in subfolders,
downloads land whole or not at all, a refresh keeps a local file's thumbnail, and leftovers
from a crash are cleaned from the cache.

Screens and navigation

  • Screens opened from a home card are no longer blank - Print Files, Recent Prints and
    Reprint Last come up activated.
  • Fewer double closes and ghost screens - a cancelled duplicate push no longer closes the
stacked screen twice, and a push for a screen closed in the meantime is dropped.
  • The recovery dialog has a close X in its header, and never shows a ready-era message
    under a shutdown title.
  • The temperature graph rebinds after a Klipper restart and a graph built while hidden
    starts paused.
  • Notification panels no longer stack a second one while one slides out.
  • A scroll that starts on a settings row leaves the row unpressed.
  • Bed screw intro text spacing and the Heater Calibration title fit properly.
  • Probe settings left unset show Klipper's default and no longer save the word "default".
  • Text fields bound to a setting keep their full value instead of being cut to one character.
  • Dialog buttons fill their rounded corners.
  • Joining a hidden Wi-Fi network shows Connecting while it connects.
  • The filament runout dialog's Resume button shows its accent and blocked states.

Config

  • Config migration is safer - a config from a newer build gets no default printer
injected, a versionless config with no printer starts from fresh defaults, legacy display
keys migrate before the defaults, and the touch calibration of a versionless config is left
    alone.
  • PRINT_START analysis downloads only what it needs - the printer config download follows
the include chain a few files at a time, reads includes the way Klipper does, retries when
the queue is full, and fails loudly instead of returning a partial config.
  • A broken printer database shows one toast instead of one per lookup.
  • Beacon accelerometers found only through the resonance tester no longer drop out on
    every second discovery.

Installer and updates

  • A beta install stays on the beta channel - settings and the update_manager stanza record
it, an explicit --version finds its manifest in any channel, and a --local archive never
    moves the channel.
  • settings.json is written safely - by one writer, atomically, keeping its mode and link,
and an unreadable one is left for the app to recover.
  • Moonraker restarts when an existing update_manager stanza is rewritten.
  • The plan reads sensibly - Update <installed> -> <target>, only the stock UIs that run,
and no version learned by running the installed binary. --clean lists its deletions and
    asks once.
  • Update failures show the real cause on the touchscreen, not an earlier harmless error.
  • An update never installs from a --test run, the update service skips cleanly instead of
failing, and the launcher stops display-sleep only on a host that has it.
  • Device deploys strip group and other write permission from what they unpack.

BTT K-Touch (alpha)

  • Scrolling feels right - throw, limit and long-press settings reach every touch input
including the K-Touch's, with a shorter glide by default there, and momentum follows elapsed
time so slow-rendering screens scroll as far as fast ones.
  • Out-of-memory aborts are reduced - a file list, history page or Print Select list too
big for memory shows an error and keeps the list, and the network lane sizes its buffers
from what it receives and fails a request instead of the board.
  • Print card thumbnails use far less memory - they decode once at card size, only on-screen
cards hold one, and they come back after leaving Print Files. The active print's thumbnail is
released and kept correctly, and the file detail backdrop uses half the memory.
  • Wi-Fi is steadier - access point steering is bounded to near-equal signal and its own
scans, rides out a failed join, and BSSIDs are redacted from the logs.
  • Overlay screens have square corners on the K-Touch, as on other limited hardware.

Plugins

  • Runaway plugins are stopped sooner - the time budget counts CPU time with a one second
wall-clock ceiling, a backtracking string pattern trips the budget, and string.rep of an
    empty string returns at once.
  • Plugin storage writes no longer happen inside a plugin call.
  • Print symlinks carry the original's full path, and a failed link leaves no directories.

Other

  • A USB stick's volume name no longer crashes the app when the list is read (#1746).
  • Debug bundles are more useful - they keep Klipper webhooks state and git SHAs, carry
object-list errors, and Android release builds may upload diagnostics.

Changed

  • Settings pages group their rows in captioned cards, and the PID screen is titled Heater
    Calibration.
  • Text inputs, dropdowns and spinboxes are outlined, field outlines clear 3:1 contrast in
every theme, the off-state switch knob is muted (outlined white in light mode), dropdown
popups stay opaque, and dropdown row labels are centered.
  • Pressed feedback is lighter on slow hardware - on limited tiers and the K-Touch, a
pressed card shows a primary-colour ring instead of scaling down, and buttons keep their
    pressed colour.
  • The home screen edit mode is much smoother - dragging, resizing and leaving edit mode no
longer rebuild the page, and nothing is saved until edits settle.
  • The widget catalog opens faster, and the temperature graph stops sampling while its
    screen is inactive.
