v1.0.6
1.0.6 is a maintenance release, mostly fixes ported from 1.1 that a 1.0 user would run
into. The main themes:
- A screen that stays responsive. A Wi-Fi driver that stops answering can no longer
freeze the touchscreen, and crashes on reprinting from History and on stopping a camera
are fixed. - Recovering from a Klipper restart. A load, unload or tool change caught by a
restart no longer leaves the filament system stuck on busy, and a second restart can't
be fired while the first one is still running. - Filament systems doing what you asked. The Snapmaker U1 resumes after a slot edit
and finishes its unloads, a K2 Plus CFS on community firmware shows each box's own
readings, ACE feed assist works on the Kobra-S1/ACEPRO driver, and AFC toolchangers
pick the right head. - Safer runouts and cool-downs. Runout dialogs heat a cold nozzle before Load,
Unload or Purge, and Cool Down turns off every toolhead on a toolchanger. - Updates and installs that work, or say why not. Updates install on systemd printers
that run HelixScreen as root, the installer works on a K1 and on hosts with systemd,
and a failed update shows its reason. - A complete Android app, with every filament system, screensavers and label printing
built in.
Added
- Tap a toolhead to switch tools - on printers with more than one tool, tapping
another tool's head on the filament system's screen offers to switch to it. A new
Confirm tool changes setting (Settings > Safety, on by default) decides whether the
home screen's tool switcher, the filament screen's toolheads and the Filament screen's
tool list ask before the printer moves. A paused print always asks, and a running print
refuses the change. - FLSUN T1 Pro detection (#1781) - the T1 Pro is recognized and gets its own preset.
- SUNLU ABS and ASA in the filament catalog, with SUNLU's published temperatures.
Changed
- Anonymous telemetry (only when you have opted in) reports usage as the change since
the last report, keeps the unsent part across a power cut, and records why an update
failed.
Fixed
Stability and recovery
- The screen no longer freezes when Wi-Fi stops answering - Wi-Fi scans, joins, the
radio switch and status checks now run in the background, so a hung Wi-Fi driver can't
lock up the touchscreen or drop the UI mid-scan. If the Wi-Fi service stops responding,
Network Settings says WiFi isn't responding, keeps the last network list, and checks
again on its own until the service recovers. Forget opens one dialog per tap. (#1023) - A Klipper restart ends a stuck filament operation (#1832) - a load or unload that was
in progress when Klipper restarted no longer leaves the filament system busy. - Firmware Restart and Restart Klipper refuse a second restart (#1832) - tapping
restart again while Klipper is still coming up could leave it halted. The second tap now
says a restart is already running and leaves the recovery dialog open to retry from. - Crash reprinting from History - reprinting a job could crash the app (seen on a
Creator 5 Pro). - Crash stopping a camera on Android - the app no longer aborts when a camera stream
takes too long to stop after switching printers.
Filament systems
- ACE feed assist and manual feed/retract work on the Kobra-S1/ACEPRO driver (#1821) -
the Feed assist toggle and the manual feed and retract buttons failed with "Must specify
either T= or INSTANCE= INDEX=". They now name the ACE unit and its slot.
ValgACE and the native driver are unchanged. - AFC toolchangers load and change to the right toolhead (#1824) - Load and tool change
named a toolhead by position, so on setups where AFC's tool numbers don't follow extruder
order (a Snapmaker U1 with a ViViD, for example) they picked the wrong head. They now send
CHANGE_TOOL LANE=andT<n>and let AFC choose the head. - AFC toolchanges keep their progress - the brief Idle AFC reports between the unload
and load of one tool change no longer clears the operation status or restarts the step
progress partway through the change. - Large AFC setups - every lane of a rig with up to 64 lanes is shown and tracked;
slots past 20 no longer grey out. - Runout dialogs heat a cold nozzle first - Load, Unload and Purge from a runout dialog
failed on a cold nozzle with "Extrude below minimum temp". They now heat to the
filament's temperature first, and cool back down after an idle operation. - K2 Plus CFS on community firmware - box temperature and humidity show on the box
that reported them, survive slot edits instead of disappearing, and a material changed on
the box reaches the slot instead of being covered by the first material seen. A color
change is still recognized as a new spool when the firmware switches format. - Snapmaker U1: RESUME is no longer refused after editing a slot - edits write the
head's firmware filament record the way the printer expects, and heads the Extended
Firmware had locked are repaired once, outside a print. - Snapmaker U1: tag readings - a spool with no tag clears what the previous tag
wrote, and leaves a slot you set by hand alone. - Snapmaker U1: unloads finish (#1832) - an unload or a spool-insert preload no longer
leaves the filament system stuck on busy. - Snapmaker U1: soft filament is saved as soft - TPU, TPE, PEBA, PVA and Flex filament,
including grades the printer has no entry for such as TPU-85A, TPU95A or PVA+, are now
saved to the printer as soft filament. - Snapmaker U1: no phantom heater - the U1's extruder offset calibration module is no
longer listed as a heater, so it stops appearing as a Hotend Heater choice in the setup
wizard, and a saved hardware list that named it no longer warns that a heater went missing. - Snapmaker U1 with multiACE (#1426) - the U1's own filament system stays in use when
an ACE is also reported. - AD5X: colors set by other tools - a lane record written by another tool no longer
pins its color and material, so later color changes from the printer show again. - Tool changes check again at Confirm - a tool change decides whether it can run when
you confirm it, not when the dialog opened. - Filament path values stay in range - slot counts, path positions, progress and spool
fill levels above their maximum are now held at it, so a very large lane count can't draw
past the end of the filament path. - Edit overlay label - a slot that names its spool reads Brand · Line · Material
without repeating itself. - The AMS sidebar's Unload button keeps working after switching printers.
Printing
-
Cool Down turns off every toolhead (#1768) - on toolchangers the active tool stayed
hot while the toast said Heaters off. The default Cool Down now turns off every extruder
and the chamber heater; a customized macro runs as written. -
Snapmaker U1: a dirty-bed pause is not a runout - a pause for a dirty bed no longer
opens the runout guidance, and the print screen shows the printer's own reason. Runout is
judged only by the lane being fed. -
Resume refusals explain themselves - when the printer refuses to resume for a known
reason, the screen says why instead of showing the raw error. -
Print Tune Z-offset hint - the hint says "auto-saved by firmware" only where the
firmware really keeps the offset (AD5M / AD5X on ZMOD), and on the U1 that a baby step
lasts until the next tool change. -
Pre-print progress on AD5M Pro with Forge-X 1.4.2 - the nozzle cleaning, bed mesh
and priming line are named, the cool-down before probing is no longer called Heating
nozzle, and the time estimate holds through it. -
Snapmaker U1 pre-print - tool Z touches read as Probing Z.
-
Adaptive bed mesh progress counts the grid Klipper actually probes.
-
Exclude object works for non-English model names - objects named in Chinese,
Japanese and other non-ASCII text can be excluded mid-print.
Screen and controls -
Z-Mod color pickers (#1806) - color prompts from Z-Mod, Fluidd and Mainsail show
each button in its color, and a picker with many colors is a grid of tappable swatches
instead of one row of slivers. -
Long macro prompts fit the screen - text and buttons scroll above the footer, and
prompts with five or more buttons use a grid. -
ESC closes the spaghetti, runout and plugin-install prompts without choosing an
answer for you. -
The on-screen keyboard keeps the field you tapped visible when moving between fields.
-
Typing in the middle of a field no longer jumps the cursor to the end.
-
Waking the screen - the touch that wakes the display no longer presses whatever is
under your finger. -
Settings has a Printer row - it opens the Printer Manager, which was otherwise only
reachable from the home screen's printer image widget. -
Power tiles keep updating after a Klipper restart - a power device's home tile
stopped following its device once Klipper restarted, until the home screen was rebuilt.
Tiles now keep tracking their device across restarts. -
Barcode scanner for spools (#1793) - with a barcode scanner configured, scanning a
spool asks for a scan with it instead of starting the camera and moving the bed. -
Screensaver setting after switching update channels - a setting saved by a newer
release no longer comes back as Flying Toasters. -
Label printing to IPP printers and CUPS shares (#1822) - printers that send an
interim "100 Continue" (such as Canon PIXMA) no longer fail with HTTP error: 100
Continue, and a printer shared through CUPS prints to the queue path it advertises
instead of failing with client-error-not-found. -
Print status preview buttons line up in the corner.
-
Printer detection - a four-extruder machine or a MIPS host without any IFS sign is no
longer named an AD5X.
Updates and installing
- Updates install on systemd printers that run HelixScreen as root - on a K2 running
systemd-based custom firmware (and any other root install under systemd), Install Update
stopped at Error: cannot write the service file in /etc/systemd/system. The check
behind that message no longer runs where an update never writes that file. - A failed update reopens its dialog (#1727) - an update that failed after you closed
the download dialog now shows the error instead of nothing, and the reason for a failed
download or install is recorded. (#1813) - Installing on Creality K1 (#1813) - the installer no longer mistakes the firmware's
stand-incurlfor the real one. - The installer sees Klipper and Moonraker on systemd firmware - on hosts such as a K2
running k2-improvements, the installer warned that Klipper and Moonraker were not running
when they were. It now checks the running processes and systemd services properly, and
no longer mistakes a log viewer, KlipperScreen or moonraker-obico for Klipper or
Moonraker. - Update channel changes reach a stanza in an included file - when
[update_manager helixscreen]lives in a file moonraker.conf includes (such as
mainsail.conf), the installer now updates and removes it there instead of adding a
second copy to moonraker.conf. - The installer never deletes a mounted scratch directory when it can't tell whether
it is a mount. - helixscreen.env is read more safely (#1682) - its settings are read as plain values
from a known list, and only from a file owned by you or root.
Android
- Every filament system is built in - a K2 Plus with a CFS showed no filament system
on Android. CFS, IFS, ACE, QIDI and Snapmaker support are now included. - Screensavers and label printing are included in the Android app.
- Updates from Google Play - the app announces only an update Play is actually serving.
- Settings backups - the app keeps its rolling settings backups in its own storage
instead of failing to write any, and an update no longer overwrites themes or printer
database overrides you saved.
