Sixteen aircraft silhouettes are redrawn to look more like the real thing. Nothing else on the map changes.
- Spitfire: its elliptical wing, in place of a tapered one.
- Tandem-rotor helicopters (Chinook, Sea Knight): a long body with a pointed nose and a square tail, and a rotor splayed at each end. The earlier drawing looked the same front and back, so you couldn't tell which way it was heading.
- Canard pushers (Long-EZ, Cozy, Velocity, Defiant): a propeller at the tail.
- Amphibians with the engine above the wing (ICON A5, Lake, SeaRey, Seabee, Volmer): a propeller behind the wing, where there was only a bump.
- Beluga, Beluga XL and Dreamlifter: a normal fuselage carrying the wide cargo hull, where they were simply drawn fat.
Three more types are drawn to slightly corrected dimensions.
Operational notes
This is an ordinary update with a normal restart and no database change. Reload any open Live or display-board page to see the new shapes.
Behind the scenes
scripts/gen_type_shapes.py gained an elliptical wing (elliptic), a wider hull over part of a fuselage (bulge), and a centreline engine with an aft-facing propeller (pusher). The tandem-rotor layout has a new body and blade angles. The last eleven dimension entries that were marked as unconfirmed have been checked against published figures, so every entry in the table now names a source it was read from. Only the 19 affected shape files changed; the other 645 are byte-identical to 3.4.163.
