Feature Deprecation
We've introduced a new config enable_legacy_auction to allow hosts to disable the legacy /auction endpoint and return an HTTP 404. In this version, the default value is true but in the next version 0.180.0 the default value will change to false. The endpoint will be removed entirely in version 0.181.0. Hosts are encouraged to use this new config to begin phasing out the endpoint.
The legacy /auction endpoint uses a custom data model instead of OpenRTB and has been considered deprecated for some time. Support for calling this endpoint has already been removed from Prebid.js, purged from documentation, and hosts have shared in the Prebid Server Committee that observed usage is below 0.1%. Removing code for the legacy endpoint will better position us for future refactoring and performance improvements.
