Live dashboards of your databases, made with AI.

New

• Dashboards. A new Dashboards page keeps live dashboards of your databases. Describe
  what you want to follow (orders per day, revenue by city, latest sign-ups…) or start from a
  template (overview, activity over time, search and details, track a figure, rankings, data
  quality): the AI tool of the database chat (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode or a local model)
  reads the schema, checks each query without seeing its values, then builds the dashboard. A
  dashboard holds no data, only read-only queries that bbdump runs when it opens, on
  Refresh, automatically (every minute to every hour) and when a filter changes.

  • Blocks: key figures compared with the previous period, goals and trends, tables you can
    search, sort and page, bars, lines, areas, donuts, several series on one chart, an activity
    calendar, text.
  • Filters and linked blocks: a period, values and a search field for the whole dashboard.
    A click on a table row, a bar or a donut slice filters the dashboard on it: search a
    customer, click them, and their record and latest orders follow.
  • Arranged by hand: drag a block to move it, pull its corner to resize it, split key
    figures into cards. Each block has its menu: show it as another chart or as a table, edit its
    SQL (tried before it is saved), rename, duplicate, hide. Explain this figure asks the AI
    to say in plain words what is counted and over which period.
  • With the AI, whenever you like: the Edit with AI panel, or a block's ✦ button for
    that block only. The AI sends only what changes and suggests next steps; every change can be
    undone.
  • Exports and sharing: PDF, Excel (one sheet per block, real numbers and dates), CSV, copy
    for a spreadsheet, a dashboard file to share and import, the same dashboard on another
    database (a local copy of production…), pinned to the home page.

  Dashboards and their conversation with the AI are encrypted on the computer; removing a
  database from bbdump removes its dashboards. Also from a database card: ⋯ → New dashboard.

• MCP server: check_query runs a SELECT and returns only its shape (columns, types, row
  count, time), no values.

Fixed

• Database chat: answers stay in the language of the question when the data looks like
  another language; the bars of a bar chart are measured on the same scale.

Upgrading

• macOS from 1.1.2: bbdump updates itself ("Download update", then "Install and restart").
  From 1.1.0 or 1.1.1, install once with the script or the DMG below.
• Linux: the AppImage updates itself; for the .deb, install the new package.
• Windows: bbdump updates itself, or download bbdump-1.4.0-setup.exe below.
• AI clients: restart them after updating, so they start the new MCP server.
