bbdump now updates itself on macOS.
Changed
- In-app updates on macOS. "Download update" downloads the new version inside the app,
checks it against the checksum published with the release, then "Install and restart"
replaces the app and reopens it. No more release page to go through. Builds are still
unsigned: this works without the macOS updater, which only accepts signed apps. The app
needs to sit in a folder it can write to, such as Applications; otherwise the release
page opens as before. The previous version is kept until the copy succeeds, and put back
if it fails. - The install script quits bbdump if it is running, replaces it, then reopens it. MCP
servers started by AI clients are left running. - Update errors now show their cause.
Upgrading from 1.1.0 or 1.1.1 on macOS
These versions still open the release page to update. Install 1.1.2 once with the install
script (it quits and reopens bbdump for you) or the DMG below; from then on, bbdump updates
itself.
