v1.12.1-304
Beta 5
Windows
- New - Absorb for Windows: an installer is attached to each release from now on. Sign in, play, download, read and transcribe like on the phone. Needs Windows 10 or newer
- It's new, so as always let me know about bugs you find, and about areas that don't feel very desktop yet
- The installer isn't signed yet, so Windows will warn before it runs
Audio (Android)
- Improved - The loudness slider levels quiet books automatically instead of adding a fixed boost
- Improved - The equalizer and bass boost run inside the player on Android, so they work on every phone
- New - A pitch slider in the equalizer, to make the narrator sound lower or higher
- New - Play with other audio, in Playback settings, keeps Absorb playing when another app starts its own audio. Calls still pause it
Settings
- New - Each library can have its own default speed, under Library next to the custom skip amounts
- New - Audible ratings on book details can be turned off, under Library
- Improved - Tapping a genre or tag on a book found through search opens the library with that filter on
Progress and sync
- Fix - Marking a book finished while offline now syncs once you're back online
- Fix - The queue downloads the next book even if you deleted an earlier download of it by hand
- Fix - A crash when a downloaded book finished while the server was unreachable
- Improved - One missed server ping no longer switches the app to offline; it checks again first
- Improved - Progress syncs every 60 seconds on cellular so the modem can sleep between pushes
Read along
- New - Play from here on a highlight in a narrated book, from the reader and from the Highlights tab
BookOrbit
- New - Forgot password on the sign-in screen
- New - Admins can see a user's reading activity
