External .ass and .ssa subtitles now work.

They were dropped outright before: the loader accepted only files ending in .srt, and the fallback beside it extracts embedded tracks from the video, which cannot help a subtitle sitting next to it. Most anime and Chinese releases ship .ass, so for those files the plugin did nothing at all. They are converted with ffmpeg now, once, cached by path.

Choosing a subtitle track also only did half its job. Parsing the cues ran only on the path that CHANGED the selection, so when mpv had already picked the right track — every file with a subtitle beside it — the plugin held no entries and never took over the display.

Native subtitles are suppressed properly. ASS and SSA carry their own styling, so mpv ignores the colour properties the old suppression used; only visibility hides them. Suppression is also re-evaluated instead of being decided once before the subtitle file has even been parsed.

ffmpeg's tags no longer reach the transcript sidebar or the translator.

The subtitle block can sit in the letterbox bar in full screen.

Two crashes are fixed, both caused by this plugin. Passing mpv a property name a build does not define faults inside libmpv and takes IINA down, and so does polling the track list for the length of a film. A JavaScript try/catch cannot catch either — they are native faults.
