Markdown Preview 0.0.70

This release adds Publish to Web: an encrypted link to a document that anyone can read in a browser. Settings moves to toolbar tabs with a live Appearance pane, ⌘1 to ⌘9 switch between tabs, and code blocks and diagrams share one set of buttons.

Added

  • Publish to Web. File › Publish to Web… or the Share popover uploads the document and copies a link that anyone can read in a browser for 7 days. The document and its images are encrypted on your Mac, and the key is only in the link, so the server cannot read them. Publish again to update the same link; File › Manage Shared Document… copies the link or stops sharing. The web page has a contents rail, code blocks with Copy and Wrap, diagrams, and resizable table columns. The page's Open in Markdown Preview button opens the document in the app, read-only. A tip on the Share button points the feature out once (#567, #570, #571, #573, #576, #577, #581, #582, #584, #585, #586, #589, #592, #599, #600).
  • Switch tabs with ⌘1 to ⌘9. ⌘1 to ⌘8 select that tab in the front window and ⌘9 selects the last tab, as in Safari (#603).
  • Support links. General settings has a Buy Me a Coffee row that you can close, and About links to Discord and Buy Me a Coffee (#601).

Changed

  • Redesigned Settings. Settings uses toolbar tabs: General, Reading, Appearance, Privacy, a new Advanced, and About. Appearance has a live sample page and Themes, Font, Layout, and Colors controls that change open documents at once. The command line tools and the app link approvals moved to Advanced (#602).
  • One set of buttons on code blocks and diagrams. Both use the same pill in the top-right corner, with native Liquid Glass on macOS 26 and later. Diagrams trade Fill width for Copy, which copies the Mermaid source, and the buttons use the text colour (#593, #595, #599).
  • Sharper diagrams. The Mermaid renderer is updated to Pele 1.12.0: fewer crossing lines in subgraph flowcharts, CJK labels that wrap between characters, and labels on style and classDef fills that stay readable (#596).

Fixed

  • Search keeps its place. Clicking in the document or in the search field no longer moves the highlight to the next match (#604).
  • One sidebar button in Customize Toolbar. The palette no longer offers two buttons that both show and hide the sidebar (#605).

Contributors

  • @kkkpc — asked for keyboard shortcuts to switch tabs (#590).
  • @jxjsxka — reported that clicking moved search to the next match (#572).
  • @lucsky — reported the duplicate sidebar toolbar button (#560).
