Markdown Preview 0.0.57

This release improves reading and editing layout, adds Obsidian highlights and MDX file support, and makes navigation and copying Markdown more convenient.

Added

  • Obsidian-style highlights. Render ==highlighted text== in previews and edit mode, with a matching formatting command (#340).
  • Open MDX files as Markdown. .mdx files are recognized by the app, Quick Look, file navigator, and local document links. JSX is not compiled or executed (#384).
  • Bare web addresses are clickable. HTTP and HTTPS URLs become links in the app and Quick Look, including inside lists and tables (#392).

Changed

  • A more consistent reading and editing layout. Headings share a system-based type scale, colors follow system appearance and contrast settings, and lists, quotations, tables, and code blocks have refined spacing. Tables respect column alignment and lists support right-to-left indentation (#375, #376).
  • Code is highlighted on the first rendered frame. Syntax colors are prepared while generating the preview (#376).
  • Copy complete blocks as Markdown. Copying whole blocks preserves list markers, link destinations, and code fences; selections within a single block remain plain text. Selection highlighting follows the text without filling gaps between blocks (#376).
  • Simpler sidebar controls. Switch between the table of contents and project navigator with a pane picker, and show or hide the sidebar with the system toggle (#373).
  • Click folder rows to expand or collapse them. The project navigator now responds to clicks on folder names and icons as well as disclosure triangles (#393).

Fixed

  • Bullet markers keep their spacing. Unordered lists retain the gap between markers and text in preview and edit mode, including after expanding a details section (#386).
  • Mermaid diagrams stay visible with the updated reading layout. Diagram containers keep their size, with wide diagrams filling the column and tall diagrams centered within the height limit (#388).
