Markdown Preview 0.0.55

This release brings together the improvements introduced in 0.0.54 with new full-screen fixes on macOS 26 and a simpler application menu. It improves macOS 15 Sequoia UI handling, theme handling on macOS 26 and later, and macOS 27 support, alongside toolbar fixes, minor UI tweaks, and more control over document navigation and reader margins.

Added

  • Open Markdown links in separate windows. An optional General setting opens local Markdown links in new windows while preserving heading destinations, including when the destination is already open (#355).
  • Highlight outline sections under the pointer. An optional General setting follows the section under the pointer and retains the last pointed-at section when the pointer leaves the document (#358).

Changed

  • A simpler application menu. Settings, Check for Updates, and Install CLI are grouped beneath About with fewer separators. Crash reporting is configured in Settings → Privacy, replacing the duplicate menu toggle (#365).
  • Reader margins can be tighter. Customize Theme now lets you reduce the default horizontal page padding all the way to zero (#354).
  • Duplicate filenames are easier to distinguish. The Window menu adds the shortest distinguishing parent-folder suffix when multiple documents share a name (#356).

Fixed

  • Consistent search and formatting backgrounds in full screen on macOS 26. Both rows use native titlebar material that follows window activation and appearance, fixing transparent search backgrounds in preview mode and restoring the windowed appearance when leaving full screen (#364).
  • Markdown links have working context-menu actions. Open Link, Open Link in New Window, and Copy Link resolve relative file paths and preserve heading fragments, including links inside tables (#357).
  • Improved UI handling on macOS 15 Sequoia. Search and formatting rows use native materials and leave document content visible, with clearer search selections, improved formatting-button hover states, and corrected toolbar and tab spacing (#362).
  • Better theme handling on macOS 26 and later. Themed windows retain their toolbar backgrounds, with search and formatting rows adapted to each macOS version. Selecting Original clears saved theme color overrides so the default appearance is restored (#362, #344).
  • Better macOS 27 support. Toolbar backgrounds retain the native scroll-edge appearance, editor scrolling works with the page scroller, and search and formatting rows keep a separator when both are visible (#362).
