The shader math precision series from Xenia Edge: vertex shaders compute as the Xbox 360 GPU does, pixel shaders get cheaper.
- Vertex shaders compute reciprocals, square roots, exponentials and logarithms bit for bit as the console, and round sums and products toward zero, which fixes z-fighting and exploding geometry.
- Only the results that reach a fetch index, an address register, a memory export or a rounding pay for the exact math.
- Pixel shaders drop the 21-bit mantissa rounding, so they cost less in every game, and the option that chose its form is gone.
