One install path for everything, and Convert can install either way.
- Every install now goes through one engine route and PS5Upload's own
installer. Stream installs, upload & install, links and server sources
all report the same progress and the same result, and an install is only
called finished once the console has actually pulled the whole package. - Convert to FPKG, then choose how to install. After a conversion you get
Stream install (straight from this computer) or Upload & install
(copied to the PS5 first, for when the console can't reach this computer).
A failed install offers both. - Clearer failures. When the PS5 can't reach this computer, or its proxy
setting blocks the stream, the app says so and suggests Upload & install —
in your language. - More reliable installs. A failed stream no longer blocks the next one, a
reinstall of the same package works straight away, an installer that is
shutting down gets replaced instead of trusted, and installing no longer
restarts the helper. - Fully translated. Every screen, including Convert, Backport and
Connections, is now translated in all 19 languages. - A PS4 package is now labelled as a PS4 package on the Upload screen.
Our own package installer.
- PS5Upload now ships its own on-console install daemon (
:9115) in place
of the third-party DPI daemon it used before. It runs alongside the helper,
and for an "upload & install" it serves the staged package to the console's
installer over a local connection — the same path a stream install uses — so
both routes now behave the same. - The etaHEN
:12800install bridge is no longer used; every console
installs through our own daemon, for consistent behaviour everywhere.
Convert to FPKG compresses, like Sony's own packages.
- Compressed packages. Converted games are Kraken-compressed, the format the
PS5 decompresses in hardware. Spider-Man 2 comes out within a few percent of
Sony's own package size. - Choose Fast, Balanced or Smallest in Convert. Balanced is the default;
Fast is about four times quicker for a slightly bigger package. - Converting needs about the package's size free, not twice the game: the
compressed data goes straight into the package. - Games that need
ampr_emu.indexget one made for them. No more copying it
from another release. Large games that need it are also detected reliably now. - An install keeps going if the app restarts while the PS5 is still
downloading the package. - Free space is checked on Windows too.
