Installs tell you more and lie less, and a first look at the package converter.

Installing packages

  • It tells you when the console already has the package, before anything is
transferred. The check is the engine's own — the same one the completion test
uses — so the badge and the install result cannot disagree.
  • Progress no longer runs past 100%. The console re-fetches ranges, so the
old number was a raw byte sum: a 1.35 GB package reported 1.53 GB fetched. It
now reports the furthest byte reached, and never runs backwards across the
    handover from download to install.
  • A stalled install says it is stalled instead of looking like a failure,
and the phase names come from the console.
  • Installing a fake package (FPKG) says what it needs. The card above the
button names the three things the console must have loaded first — kstuff,
    a53_ppr_install_fast.elf and shadowmountplus.elf.

Web UI

  • Install packages straight from the server's library. The web UI could
only stream a package sitting on the machine you had it open on; it can now
install what the engine itself is holding.

Connection

  • The helper redeploy loop stops before it hurts. Every delivered payload
replaces the helper running at :9021, so a console that had stopped answering
could be held down by the very loop meant to revive it. It now stops after
three unanswered deliveries and says so.

Beta

  • Convert to FPKG — behind Settings → Beta features — turns a game folder
or an .exfat / .ffpkg mount image into an installable package. It is
not finished: it can produce a package the console installs and then will
not mount. Off by default, and the screen says so.
