Backport a game from inside ps5upload — including disk-image titles — plus a
fix for update failures that blamed the wrong thing.
Backporting, without the four-tool ritual
Games built for firmware newer than your console need their SDK version
lowered and replacement system libraries added. That used to mean a separate
SDK changer, a separate BackPork, and a folder of libraries you had to source
yourself. It is now one button in Games, and the pieces it needs are managed
for you.
-
The libraries come from your own games. They are Sony files, so
ps5upload cannot ship them. The first time you back port something, it offers
two ways to get them: import a pack you already have, or scan your console
and collect them from games that are already backported. Either way they are
kept once and reused for every later backport, and you can add more at any
time from Settings → Backport libraries. -
A library set is installed whole. Sets are never mixed. Testing on
hardware showed a game that runs fine on its own nine libraries fail to start
at all on a different game's six — so ps5upload offers you sets that a real
game actually shipped, rather than assembling one from parts that have never
run together. -
Disk-image games work too. Titles that live in a
.exfat/.ffpkgimage
managed by ShadowMount+ used to be out of reach because the image is mounted
read-only. ps5upload now asks ShadowMount+ to remount just that one image
writable for the duration, patches it, and puts it back — no payload restart,
no moving your game file anywhere. -
It tells you what happened, and does not pretend to know more than it
does. After installing a set it launches the title and watches. A failed
launch is retried, because launching is unreliable enough on its own that one
failure proves nothing. If the game is still running afterwards it asks you
to confirm it reaches gameplay rather than declaring success — and if the
title was never patched in the first place, it says so instead of blaming the
libraries. Undo puts the game back exactly as it was.
Update installs
-
Failures now name the reason the console actually gave. When the PS5
declines an update, ps5upload retries through a small installer it sends to
the console. If that installer could not be delivered, you used to be told
only about the delivery problem — the code the console rejected it with, and
the remedy that goes with it, were dropped. Both halves are now reported. -
No more "re-run your loader" when your loader is running. That advice was
shown whenever port 9021 refused a connection, including to people whose
loader process was plainly alive — it had simply stopped listening. When a
loader is visible, ps5upload now says so, and suggests loading it again
rather than starting it.If your PS5 refuses an update this way, the route that works is on the
console itself: Settings → System → Debug Settings → Game → Package
Installer. Your upload is not wasted — the package is already on the PS5.
