Tailscale, built in:
- Play your PS5 from anywhere through your own Tailscale network, with no Tailscale app on the PS5 or a VPN router. Sign in once in Settings › Tailscale, then use Connection › "Put this PS5 on Tailscale".
- On Tailscale, the PS5 only answers to Remote Play and PS5Upload, nothing else.
- Settings and the console's Tailscale panel say in plain words when something is wrong: sign-in refused, signed out, server unreachable, or a key that has expired or is about to.
Play Together:
- Play together has its own page, with Start and Invite.
- A friend can play as a profile you pick, such as a guest, so the game uses that profile's saves and trophies and nothing pops up on the TV.
- A friend who reconnects gets the same profile back.
- When an internet friend or phone would play as you, the Allow box says so and asks a second time.
- The phone controller and the watch link now work over the internet too. A phone that reconnects is let back in only with the token it got when you allowed it.
- Third-party controllers (8BitDo and other popular pads) are mapped correctly, and a friend can check their controller and set it up from the invite page.
Convert:
- Save to a server: an image or folder can be written straight to a NAS or server over SMB, NFS, FTP, SFTP or WebDAV.
- Convert can now make PS4 fake packages (.pkg).
- Not yet tried on a PS5.
Payloads:
- Payloads can keep themselves up to date, and stay in step with Payload Manager when you use it.
Agents (MCP):
- A switch in the app decides whether AI agents can only look or can change things too. When agents can only look, they can't see invite or phone-link secrets.
Fixes and smaller changes:
- Remote Play: L2 and R2 are real triggers again. A half pull reached the PS5 as a full press in the app, browsers, phones, the Windows DualSense reader and Android; now the PS5 gets how far you pull.
- Mac app: the controller's PS button reaches the PS5 again during Remote Play. macOS was taking it for its own Games overlay while every other button worked.
- Pairing refused (80108b03): the message now says what to check (the PS5 shows you signed in, Remote Play is on) and points to pairing with the PIN the PS5 shows.
- Tailscale: turning it off or changing its settings just as a connection error came in could hang the helper on the PS5. Fixed.
- Play Together over the internet: when the invite server restarts, friends are told to reconnect instead of being told the room ended, and a friend still joining tries again by itself.
- The invite server uses far less memory per connection, limits how many connections one address can hold, and closes connections that never say who they are.
- Translations: every new string was checked in all 21 languages, and many were corrected.
- Web UI: add files from the device you're browsing on (#730), and Go live works from an iPhone's Safari (#731).
- Saves: saves whose file names Windows can't hold (such as RDR2) now copy and restore (#729).
- Install: a PS5 add-on is no longer taken for the game when the game runs from an image (#724).
- Remote Play waits for a PS5 that is still holding its last session instead of failing (#720).
- The PS5Upload tile on the console's home screen is put back if it's missing, and an old offline copy of the console page can update itself.
- The website lists everything the app does, has a FAQ, and covers Tailscale and playing over the internet.
