Warning

NeuralScreen requires the latest NVIDIA driver. Operation with older drivers or unsupported/non-standard configurations is not guaranteed.

A still picture in a browser, Photos or Photoshop no longer keeps the GPU busy, the Chinese, Japanese and Korean interfaces show text instead of boxes, and an NR runtime put in the wrong place is named.

Fixes

  • A still picture in a browser, Photos or Photoshop no longer keeps the GPU busy (#183). NR stops on a picture that does not change - but "does not change" meant the capture delivered no new frame. Programs that draw through a swap chain present the same picture again and again, every present reached the capture as a new frame, and the network ran on all of them. Each captured frame is now compared with the one before; the same picture counts as still. A window presenting one picture on every refresh: the network ran on 681 of 681 frames before, on none of 866 now. A changing picture is processed on every frame as before.
  • Chinese, Japanese and Korean show as text, not boxes (#186). The CJK fonts were looked up by family name; on a Windows whose font list carries other names, the lookup quietly returned a face without CJK glyphs. They are now found by file (Microsoft YaHei, Yu Gothic, Malgun Gothic and the fonts Windows ships after them), and a face is used only when it really has the glyphs.
  • An NR runtime in the wrong place is named (#182, #185). NeuralScreen takes a runtime only from native\libraries\nvngx_dlssnr.dll and said nothing when it was not there. It now finds the usual slips - a libraries folder next to the program, the DLL in the program folder, a doubled extension, an archive or extracted folder inside native\libraries\ - and says at start and in Fine tuning which file it found and where it has to go.

Tests

Full suite: 335 pass, 6 skipped; GPU 70/70, GUI-E2E 14/14 (the one static failure in that run was the file manifest still pinned to 2.6.3; re-pinned for this release, static checks pass).
