Warning

NeuralScreen requires the latest NVIDIA driver. Operation with older drivers or unsupported/non-standard configurations is not guaranteed.

Video and capture-card pictures under NR move evenly again, the process priority is a setting, the camera's small sensor no longer blurs the HUD and has a hotkey, and Frame Generation goes to 6x.

Fixes

  • Video under NR no longer stutters (#166). With NR on, a 59.94 fps source on a 119.88 Hz monitor (a PS5 through a capture card, a video player) moved "like 30 fps" with the GPU at a third of its load. The cause was our interface layer: a full-screen window above the picture, redrawn ten times a second even with nothing on it, and every redraw of it cost the Windows compositor a composition - the picture underneath came a refresh late or not at all. Measured on a 144 Hz bench with a source that writes its frame number into the picture: before, 8-11% of the source's frames never reached the capture and 14-21% of the rest came unevenly; now 0% lost without a frame limit (2% with a limit set right at the source rate) and 99% exactly two refreshes apart. An independent Desktop Duplication reader saw the same losses, so it was the compositor, not our capture. The on-screen FPS counter still redraws that layer - keep it off while judging smoothness.
  • The camera's small sensor no longer blurs the HUD (#168). Its tone and its softness towards the corners were one amount; the softness is now its own slider, Soft corners (0 by default). The small sensor alone keeps every pixel sharp - measured: corner detail 128 against 128 at the input, 34 with Soft corners at 100%.

New

  • Process priority (Settings -> Program, #170): Normal / Above normal / High for the program and its worker - what Task Manager's "Set priority" does, kept across restarts. Realtime is not offered.
  • Camera hotkey (#164): Num8 turns the camera on and off; rebindable on the Keys page.
  • Frame Generation up to 6x (#163): x5 and x6 next to x2-x4. On an RTX 5070 Ti the runtime reports a 6x ceiling; a 24 fps source runs at 96 / 120 / 140 fps at x4 / x5 / x6. A card whose runtime stops lower is stepped down to its highest multiplier, as before.

Tests

Full suite on the release branch: 314 pass, 2 fail, 6 skipped; GUI-E2E 14/14. The two: the runtime manifest (re-pinned by this release), and test_fg_waitable_drain, which fails the same way on v2.4.0's code on this bench (RTSS was running). Plus bench runs for #166 (above), the camera's GPU test and FG at x4/x5/x6. HDR tests skipped (HDR off).
