Warning
This is an in-development test build, not meant for general use. It exists so the people in the linked issue can test a fix and give feedback, and it may have bugs that the regular release doesn't. If you aren't taking part in testing this build on that issue, please use the latest release instead.
This test build is for #462: the GPU crash ("device lost") on Intel Arc in the overworld. It is Beta 5.4 plus a safety limit for the lit shaders that read the light list: if one of them ever loops far longer than normal, it now stops early instead of hanging the GPU. In normal play they stay well under the limit, so lighting should look the same. If it offers to update to Beta 5.4, skip that while you test.
On Windows, unzip it into a new folder and keep your normal install as it is. Set up your game files from the start screen as before. The first start prepares shaders for longer than usual.
What to try (walk around the Field and the forest, and attach lasrecomp.log either way):
- Run 1: no extra line in
larecomp.ini. Play as long as you can in the Field and the forest. - Only if run 1 crashes: add
diagnostic = guard_fs64tolarecomp.iniand try again. This uses a much tighter limit.
