Warning
This is an in-development test build, not meant for general use. It exists so the people in the linked issue can test a fix and give feedback, and it may have bugs that the regular release doesn't. If you aren't taking part in testing this build on that issue, please use the latest release instead.
This test build is for #462: the GPU crash ("device lost") on Intel Arc in the overworld. It tries a fix for the lit shaders that use the light-tile program: they now drop hidden pixels at the end of the shader instead of inside their light loop. Lighting should look the same as normal. It is Beta 5.4 plus this fix; if it offers to update to Beta 5.4, skip that while you test, since 5.4 doesn't have the fix yet.
On Windows, unzip it into a new folder and keep your normal install as it is. Set up your game files from the start screen as before. The first start prepares shaders for longer than usual.
What to try (walk around the Field and the forest, and attach lasrecomp.log if it crashes):
- Run 1: no extra line in
larecomp.ini. This is the fix. Play as long as you can. - Only if run 1 crashes: try each of these lines in
larecomp.ini, one at a time:diagnostic = fix_stack,diagnostic = fix_nofall,diagnostic = fix_gfast. Each one turns the run 1 fix off and tries a different one.
