New
- Choose your default browsing engine and add, edit or remove website engine rules in Settings. Chromium is recommended, while WebKit offers native handling and FairPlay video.
Improved
- WebKit sessions leave Chromium unloaded until you open a Chromium website or extension. Once loaded, it stays ready until you quit Crest.
- The default Mac download includes Chromium and WebKit, with a separate WebKit build available. Each build keeps its own update channel.
- The final experimental update moves your update preference to Development so future Crest updates continue there.
- Crest for Mac is one download with both engines. Copies of the separate WebKit download update to it automatically.
- Extension popups, such as a password manager's settings popout, open as a tab in your current window instead of a new window.
Fixed
- Extensions can move, resize and restore Crest windows using their normal window controls.
- Chromium pages keep rendering while you swipe between Spaces instead of turning gray.
- Pressing Return in Find moves to the next match instead of skipping several ahead.
- Clicking a field in the other half of a split view lets you type there on the first click.
- Crest no longer quits when an extension closes its popup window, as Bitwarden does after you turn on unlock with biometrics.
- Restarting to install an update, or choosing Quit from the Dock, quits Crest so the update installs instead of waiting forever.
Nightly builds contain the newest changes and may be less reliable than stable releases.
