New
- Chromium feature flags open inside Crest Settings.
Improved
- In the desktop browser, camera, microphone, location and notification requests use Crest's own prompt, are remembered per Space, and can be reviewed and revoked in Site Controls and Privacy.
- Tab icons in the desktop browser take on a site's theme colour, and refreshing a site's icon works there too.
- Split cards and Peek in the desktop browser zoom pages with a fixed minimum width to fit, as they do on WebKit.
- An extension side panel requested from a Quick Window now explains that side panels open in the main window.
- Crest's link and Space actions appear first in native page menus while browser and extension actions stay available.
- Page dialogs and website sign-in prompts work across both desktop browser engines.
- Playing Chromium videos can enter Picture in Picture when switching tabs, with a window that settles into a screen corner.
Fixed
- Clear Site Data and Reload works in the desktop browser.
- Extensions that open their side panel themselves, such as ChatGPT, now open it on the first click in the desktop browser.
- Extensions that work with a companion app, such as ChatGPT, 1Password and Claude, now connect to it in the desktop browser even when the app was only set up for Chrome.
- Keep unfinished page loads from changing saved tabs or history while preserving completed page titles and icons.
Experimental builds are signed and notarized snapshots from the selected branch (chromium-control-plane). They may be less reliable than development or stable releases.
