Changes since last release
From CHANGELOG.md, 2026-10-30:
Tray icon follows the theme again, with an "always white" switch (#305)
- The Linux tray glyph is white on GNOME and in dark mode, black in light mode, like the stock app, so it no longer disappears on a light panel such as KDE Plasma with a light theme. It follows Claude's Appearance setting; with Appearance = System it follows the desktop color scheme.
- New Community switch "Always use the white tray icon" (Settings -> Extra -> Community -> Tray, key
trayIconAlwaysWhiteinclaude-desktop-extra.json) keeps the white glyph, for a dark panel with a light Claude theme or a bar that reports no color scheme (sway, Hyprland or waybar without a portal color-scheme). Off by default, applies live without a restart, and atrue/falseinclaude-desktop-extra.jsonclocks it. Turn it on to keep the previous always-white behavior.
Upstream v4.4212.0
- Custom models re-fitted. The Code session's env builder is now a free function the
buildSessionEnvmethod forwards to, with the base config one parameter further right;add_feature_custom_modelssub-patch B finds the function through the method and splicescliEnv()there. - "Load large sessions in full" keeps upstream's new history window. The session manager's limits now also carry
historyWindowBytes, historyRequestBytes, historyScanChunkBytesandhistoryReadDeadlineMs. They belong to a paged history reader that nothing calls yet, so the feature still matters. The heavy-work worker's helper returned only our four sizes, which would have left those keys undefined in the worker once that reader is used; it now overrides the four sizes and keeps the rest, andadd_feature_transcript_limits_workermatches the longer literal. - Extra -> Deployment lists the new managed keys
projectsEnabled,mcpAppWidgetsEnabledandsessionStatusLine(201 keys). --diagnoseand--reset-screen-sharingstay bounded on Ubuntu 26.04. Its defaulttimeout(uutils) sends a KILL to the direct child only, so a hung Computer Use bridge that left a child running made the launcher wait for that child. Bridge calls now time out with TERM followed by KILL a second later, which ends the whole process group with both GNU and uutilstimeout.- Audited: feature flags (672 -> 695; the one new Linux-facing gate,
1116624256, stops a bare Alt tap from opening the app menu on GNOME, matching upstream's release note), platform gates (no new macOS/Windows-only feature that Linux lacks), built-in MCP servers (no roster change), the ion-dist setup window (both ion patches apply unchanged) and the custom-models anchors. Electron stays 44.9.3, Claude Code 2.1.309.
