Changes since last release

From CHANGELOG.md, 2026-10-21:

Blank main window after a renderer clean-exit (#287)

  • The main view reloads itself when its renderer exits cleanly without the app asking. On niri
    Wayland with 10-16 Code sessions open the renderer went away every day or two with
    reason: 'clean-exit', exitCode: 0; upstream drops that reason without reloading, so the window stayed
    blank, Ctrl+R and F5 had nothing left to reach, and only a full restart - ending every Code session -
    recovered. A real crash already took the reload path. New fix_renderer_clean_exit_reload.nim
    (linux): a clean-exit while the app is not quitting now goes through upstream's own reload path; one
    during quit, relaunch, Reset App Data or a view teardown stays suppressed, and after three reloads in
    ten minutes it falls back to upstream behavior. Each decision is one [cdb-renderer] line in
    claude-patches.log. Thanks to @ToRvaLDz for the report and the log analysis.

Custom themes: themed caption-button area

  • The minimize / maximize / close area of the integrated titlebar follows the active theme. It kept
    upstream's own colors (stock, or the page color saved from the last run, with stock symbols), so it
    showed as a stock box at the right end of a themed top bar and missed live switches. It now takes the
    theme's top bar color and a --text-200 symbol color, follows light/dark flips and switches live from
    the theme picker. No theme, a transparent window and the native titlebar behave as before. Thanks to
    @fatihaydost.

Claude Desktop 3.1623.0 (#285)

  • Built on upstream 3.1623.0 (Electron 44.9.0, bundled Claude Code 2.1.304). The new major number
    comes with a one-way move of the app's data folder on Windows; Linux keeps ~/.config/Claude. Upstream
    release notes: https://claude.com/docs/cowork/changelog. Nothing we ship was taken over or removed
    upstream, and no new mac/Windows-only feature needs a Linux patch.
  • Five patches re-fitted to the new code shapes, same behavior:
    • integrated titlebar and transparent window: the main window's background is now the page color saved
      from the last run, read through a call that takes an argument; the titlebar color follows it;
    • hidden start after session restore: only the window-show check is patched, the new Reset App Data
      check of --startup keeps upstream behavior;
    • Extra settings: the restart hook follows upstream's reworked relaunch;
    • Computer Use: the first screenshot note follows a longer tool handler.
  • Cowork's plugin page on Linux shows the same plugins as on macOS and Windows. The package no longer
    forces Claude Code routing for Cowork, which listed the Claude Code CLI plugins there although Cowork
    tasks never loaded them, and made an uninstall there edit the Claude Code setup. Home-directory CLI
    plugins still show as Personal Plugins.
  • Catalogs: the Anthropic Features flag list covers 619 flags, and Extra -> Deployment lists all 193
    managed-settings keys of this version, including quickEntryDefaultShortcut, releaseChannel,
    skillScanningEnabled, sshConfigs and disableDesktopLocalSessions; the five unnamed "Reserved
    setting" keys are shown read-only.
  • Computer Use is back for Team and Enterprise accounts. The app now reports Computer Use as rolled
    out (computerUseRollout) next to computerUse; claude.ai reads that key, so accounts without a web
    rollout get the Settings -> System -> Computer use switch again instead of "Computer use isn't available
    on the Team and Enterprise plans yet", and Code sessions and Cowork tasks on this computer carry the
    tools once it is on. An organization compliance lock still switches it off.
  • Computer Use in Cowork chats on X11: the tool descriptions no longer claim that screenshots contain only
    granted apps' windows; the model asks for access through the consent card and then sees the whole
    display.
    The descriptions come from a static per-session preset that was the "granted apps only" one on
    X11; it now reads as whole-display there, and the request_access text says so instead of calling X11 a
    Wayland session.
  • Build: the Quick Entry KDE rebind harness waits for the "armed" log line instead of reading it right after the bind call (a one-in-six timing flake that turned release runs red).
  • Build: the Personal Plugins, window bounds, tray icon, Quick Entry ready-to-show, GrowthBook overrides
    and profile window title patches no longer need the legacy PCRE1 library at run time (ported from
    std/nre to the pure-Nim regex package, byte-identical output); the Personal Plugins harness now prints
    the patch binary's output when a check fails.
  • Docs: Cowork VM debug tags refreshed to the native backend's [VM:start]/[VM:steps] lines, the
    kernel-upgrade-without-reboot VM boot failure documented, Electron stamp 44.9.0.
