Changes since last release

From CHANGELOG.md, 2026-10-16:

Menus in popped-out session windows work while the main window is hidden (#280)

  • On native Wayland, menus in a popped-out Code session no longer get stuck. With the main window on
another workspace (sway, and any compositor that stops drawing hidden windows), menus and dropdowns in a
session window opened with "Open in new window" stopped closing, or did not open, until the main window
was shown again. The session window's UI runs in the main window, which receives no animation frames at
all while the compositor hides it (electron/electron#53814; backgroundThrottling cannot help). The main
window's requestAnimationFrame now also advances on a 100 ms timer when no frame arrives, so a visible
main window behaves exactly as before. X11 and XWayland sessions are untouched; CDB_POPOUT_RAF_SHIM=0
    turns the fix off.

Developer tools switch in Settings -> Extra (community)

  • DevTools can be enabled from the Extra page. The official build only opens DevTools (Ctrl+Alt+I,
"Toggle Dev Tools" in the app menu) with allowDevTools: true in developer_settings.json in the profile
directory, a file nothing in the app writes. The new Community Features row writes it. The shortcut
works right away, the menu entry after a restart; an organization that disabled developer mode keeps
    DevTools off, as before.
