The weather keeps real time above 1000 frames a second.

  • The clouds no longer spin, and the wind, rain and lightning no longer change too fast, when the game runs above 1000 FPS (usually with vertical sync off) (#29). The game measured the length of each frame in whole milliseconds and counted the shorter ones as zero, which gave the weather its largest step, that of 15 FPS, on exactly those frames. Over a minute of a stage at 2000 FPS the weather ran 68 times too fast and the clouds turned 110 degrees; the frame time is now measured below a millisecond, and the weather keeps real time at any frame rate. The clouds still turn slowly with the wind, as in the original.

Tested locally on Linux x86-64: the unit tests and the runtime scenarios, and a stage at 60, 1250 and 2000 FPS against 1.5.1. The i686 build was compiled locally. Release packages are built and tested by GitHub Actions for each supported platform.

You need your own original PC Colin McRae Rally 2.0 game data. The downloads contain only the port, its dependencies and licences.
