OptiScaler v0.9.4
2 fun milestones - OptiScaler has now passed 1 MILLION downloads and over 9000 stars! π π π
We would like to send our thanks to everyone for the longlasting support!
And now the release info.
This release is focused on adding proper support for FSR 4.1.1/FFX 2.3 SDK which adds INT8 support, albeit officially for RDNA3 only. Please read the notes below on how to force enable it on unsupported GPUs, and how to properly verify it's working (important due to internal checks and a fallback FSR3 mode).
Also a little something for the rare FSR 3.1 users.
Full changelog below.
Always check the Wiki for more information on compatibility, FG options etc!
If you like the work being done, it's now possible to support the project! Also linked in the Readme

Caution
- We've been informed about some FAKE websites presenting themselves as OptiScaler team, so we would like to strongly highlight that we DO NOT HAVE an official website!
- We DON'T have an official manager app, so please be careful when downloading or using them! And please don't bother us to provide support for something which isn't even ours!
- Only LEGIT places are this Github, our Discord server and Nitec's NexusMods page.
- OptiScaler is FREE, any kind of monetary requirements are scams!

- Recommended for RDNA2 Windows users due to the persisting driver compiler regressions!
- Better luck in early 2027 π₯²
New and improved MAJOR features in 0.9.4:
Updated to latest FFX 2.3 SDK/FSR4.1.1 (@FakeMichau, @TheRazerMD, @cdozdil)
- Updated model/preset hooking for FSR 4.1.1 (@TheRazerMD, @FakeMichau)
- Fixes the
Failed to hookerror on both the Driver and SDK upscaler DLL
- Fixes the
- Added FSR 4.1.1 for officially supported cards (@FakeMichau)
- RDNA 3 desktop GPUs (dGPUs) now have autoenabled Fsr4Update to access the INT8 model
- RDNA 3/3.5 mobile iGPUs/APUs are not officially supported, check below!
- Try to use Int8 on RDNA3 on Linux when possible (@FakeMichau)
- Don't link FSR-FG camera struct if it's just all zeros (@FakeMichau)
- Should fix an issue where driver upgrade FG would fallback to FSR3-FG when using OptiFG
- β οΈ Added
Fsr4ForceEnableInt8option for FP8 incompatible GPUs (@cdozdil) β οΈ- Set this option to
trueto force enable INT8 on unsupported GPUs - such as RDNA 3/3.5 mobile (iGPU/APU), Intel/Nvidia- This does not mean old GPUs (which don't support INT8) will work!
- Only applies to the shipped SDK upscaler DLL, won't affect the Driver amdxcffx64.dll!
- RDNA2 Windows users are recommended to continue using FSR 4.0.2c as the driver compiler regression (which causes ghosting etc) is yet to be fixed!
- Set this option to
βIMPORTANT REGARDING FSR4.1.1 INT8β
- With FSR 4.1.1, along with adding INT8 support, AMD has also added internal checks for GPU validation and currently only RDNA4 (FP8) and RDNA3 dGPUs (desktop, INT8) are officially supported
- All unsupported GPUs fall back to the internal FSR3 upscaler!
- Due to the above, it's very important to check the FSR4 Upscaler Watermark reporting (FSR4, FSR4-i8 or FSR3)
- Either enable the Watermark under the Upscaler selection or by setting
Fsr4EnableWatermark=truein OptiScaler.ini
- Either enable the Watermark under the Upscaler selection or by setting
- We have added detection of the possible FSR3 fallback when upgrading to 4.1.1 on unsupported GPUs, but the Watermark still remains the most accurate way
- Due to the above, it's very important to check the FSR4 Upscaler Watermark reporting (FSR4, FSR4-i8 or FSR3)
- BAT improvements (@TheRazerMD)
- Improved faulty setup detections, added more info, reorganised some parts
- Should now work in folders with special characters and be more foolproof in general hopefully
- Added FSR3.1 tuning presets (@cdozdil, thanks to Weather)
- Bit of community sourced info that may or may not help FSR3.1 image quality
- Tweaked FSR4 settings and the Opti overlay in general (@FakeMichau, @TheRazerMD)
- Made some options into a dropdown menu, added FSR3 fallback detection (for FSR 4.1.1 upgrade)
- Show
FSR3.X/4in Opti Overlay when using 4.1.1 and above SDK dll with ForceInt8 (@cdozdil)- Should now show
FSR 3.X/4instead of just FSR3.X when INT8 is forced
- Should now show
Note
Regarding FSR4 VK w/Dx12 on Linux
- Proton 11 adds the missing required Wine extensions, VK w/Dx12 should be working now, but needs more testing and might require extra bugfixes down the line
- RADV may have a massive performance drop compared to AMDVLK (unrelated to OptiScaler) - Mesa issue link
New and improved minor features in 0.9.4 include:
- Fix FSR3.1 presets dynamic calculation (@cdozdil)
- Fix for Typeless Hudless resourcess (@cdozdil)
- Fix dlssg_to_fsr3_amd_is_better.dll check at menu (@cdozdil)
- Fixed Where Winds Meet MV issues which broke FSR3-FG (@cdozdil)
- Now all FGs should work properly
- Added missing Ubisoft game exes to their respective quirks (@TheRazerMD)
- Splash update (@FakeMichau)
Various game improvements for a better OOB experience
Thanks to everyone that reports issues!

Note
- Linux bois need the latest Proton which includes latest VKD3D commits which support FSR 4.1.1/FFX SDK 2.3 in order to work
- FSR4-FG requires Mesa 25.2+ and Wine prefix set to Win 11 (per-game, if global config isn't working)
