OptiScaler v0.9.3

This release is mostly focused on fixing issues that popped up with the 0.9 releases (such as ResizeBuffers1 crashes), alongside some improvements to the Overlay's HDR tonemapping, swapchain backbuffers, fixing RTX Remix crash etc.

Noteworthy new feature is the addition of Manual Input Polling which fixes the invisible Opti Overlay in games such as Metro EE, STALKER Trilogy remasters, DL2, DLTB.

Caution

  • XeSS 3.0.1 SDK (upscaler still reads 2.0.2, MFG is still Arc only❗)

What doesn't come bundled :

  • FSR4 INT8 (atleast not yet)
    • Required for any other non-RDNA4 card!

New and improved MAJOR features in 0.9.3:

  • Fixed ResizeBuffers1 error, improvements to swapchain backbuffers (@cdozdil)

  • Fixed and improved HDR tonemapping for Overlay theme presets customisation (@cdozdil)
    • Should stop retina burning for HDR users
  • Fixed FSR4 driver update not working (@cdozdil)
  • Added Swapchain Waitable Object Simulation (@cdozdil)
    • Fixed XeSS3 + Unity games getting stuck when loading

    • Crude, but effective fix for invisible Opti Overlay in games such as Metro EE, STALKER Trilogy remasters, DL2, DLTB where quirks are already applied for it

    • Should fix Lego Batman scene change stutters caused by Opti (game still has its own stutters)
  • 007 First Light fixes and improvements (major thanks to @FakeMichau)
    • Fixes upscaler and FG artifacting/crashes, other specific issues with Nvidia and Intel that were caused by incompatibility with Opti etc.
    • HDR issues and DLSS inputs giving small performance boosts are game issues and devs are aware of them
  • XeFG/MFG multiplier fixes (@cdozdil)
  • OptiScaler now tries enabling FSR4 on RDNA4 by default (@cdozdil)
  • Added auto FGResourceFlip enabling for OptiFG when Unity is detected (@cdozdil)
  • Added late loading option for ASI files (@cdozdil)
    • LateAsiPluginsDelay option in OptiScaler.ini
  • Fix for DLSSD feature reverting to DLSS (@cdozdil)
  • Improve driver FFX model selection pattern (@FakeMichau)

Note

Regarding FSR4 VK w/Dx12 on Linux

  • Proton 11 adds the missing required Wine extensions, VK w/Dx12 should be working now, but needs more testing and might require extra bugfixes down the line
  • RADV may have a massive performance drop compared to AMDVLK (unrelated to OptiScaler) - Mesa issue link

Note

  • Linux bois need the latest Proton which includes latest VKD3D commits which support FSR 4.1/FFX SDK 2.2 in order to work
  • FSR4-FG requires Mesa 25.2+ and Wine prefix set to Win 11 (per-game, if global config isn't working)
