What's in this RC
A major internal refactor of how Gallery's fork changes sit on top of upstream Immich. It makes future upstream rebases easier, supports rolling back to an earlier Gallery version, and improves the revert-to-Immich flow.
There's nothing specific to test. Please just use Gallery as usual and report anything that doesn't work as before.
Huge shoutout to @luminoso who's been doing some incredible refactoring work! 🚀 They've been splitting out all fork code, basically ensuring that all Gallery code is a completely separate layer on top of Immich. This includes all DB changes as well.
It will make future rebases on Immich much safer and easier. It also simplifies reverting back to Immich. They're working towards making it possible to simply change your Docker image back to Immich, and having everything work.
Try it
Set IMMICH_VERSION=v5.9.0-rc.0 in your .env, then:
docker compose pull && docker compose up -dReport issues on GitHub.
