⚠️ Security patch: please update. This version is built on Immich v3.3.5, which contains a fix for a certificate authority (CA) compromise (details) as well as Node.js security patches. Immich's maintainers don't believe the compromise puts instances in immediate danger, but they recommend updating as soon as possible, and so do we.

Based on Immich v3.3.5.

What's in this release

This release rebuilds Gallery as a separate layer on top of Immich, which makes upstream updates safer, supports rolling back to an earlier Gallery version and improves the switch back to Immich. It also brings an Adjust tool in the image editor, face review with the photo's context and keyboard shortcuts, Space editors working with other members' photos in space albums, and a batch of mobile, Spaces and reliability fixes.

Huge shoutout to @luminoso for the refactoring work that splits all fork code into a layer on top of Immich, including the database changes.

Android: install the APK for now

The Google Play review for this release is still underway and usually takes a few business days. Until it is approved, install the app from the attached gallery-v5.9.0.apk. The first time, Android will ask you to allow installs from your browser or files app.

This APK is the same build as v5.9.0-rc.1: the app code is identical to what v5.9.0 ships, so it works with the v5.9.0 server. The only difference is that the app reports its version as 5.9.0-rc.1.

Update

Back up your database first, since this release changes how Gallery records its database migrations. Then set IMMICH_VERSION=v5.9.0 in your .env and run:

docker compose pull && docker compose up -d
