Highlights
- 🦊 Firefox is a real Manifest V3 add-on now — the
--browser=firefoxpackage would previously have been rejected by addons.mozilla.org, and would not have run if it had been accepted. The background is an event page loaded frombackground.scripts, because Firefox has never supported extension service workers (#390) - 🪟 The extension shows up in the browser sidebar — Feedly Notifier now appears in Edge's Customize sidebar list and Chrome's side panel picker without having to give up the toolbar popup to get there, and a panel left open for hours keeps its feeds current instead of rendering once at load (#386, closes #297)
Bug Fixes
- 🚦 Stopped exhausting the Feedly API quota. The extension was spending far more requests than it needed across six separate paths, two of them unbounded — enough that feedly.com itself started returning
429for the account. Affected accounts previously had to clear their stored tokens by hand to recover; that now happens automatically (#385, fixes #368) - 📖 Marking the last article read no longer loses the batch. With Close popup when last feed is read enabled, the popup closed before handing the batch to the background, so the article came back unread on the next update (#396, closes #393)
- 🎨 The toolbar icon no longer greys out while articles are unread. With Reset counter when extension button clicked and Gray icon color if no unread both on, the icon went grey the moment nothing new had arrived — with hundreds of articles still unread (#397, fixes #102)
- 🎯 The article action buttons are easier to hit (#389, closes #47)
Minimum browser versions
This release raises both floors, so browsers below them stop receiving updates:
| 3.2.0 | 3.3.0 | |
|---|---|---|
| Chrome / Edge | 88 | 116 |
| Firefox | 115 | 128 |
Developer Changes
- 🚀 Releases now publish themselves — publishing a GitHub release builds the extension and submits it to the Chrome Web Store, Microsoft Edge Add-ons and addons.mozilla.org through each vendor's own API (#398)
- ✅ Added the unit and end-to-end test suites the repository had been missing — 377 unit tests, Playwright coverage for the Chromium build (#384), and a geckodriver-based suite for the Firefox build (#394, closes #391)
- 🔧 Collapsed the CI browser matrix into a single job (#388, closes #387) and moved Dependabot onto GitHub's native auto-merge (#383)
