A note from the maintainer
I am close to beating the game, which means I will not be actively testing old features or implementing new ones. Any issues or feature requests should be created under Issues, or at the very least, leave a comment in this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/SBCGaming/s/dY7UUX5ZYI. I will prioritize the issue/feature based on severity/effort/time.
Hook Chain works in Impact battles
If you had Analog Camera turned on, R did nothing during Impact battles, so the Hook Chain was unavailable for the whole fight. Analog Camera uses R as its zoom modifier and was reserving it everywhere in the game, including the modes that have their own use for it. It now only reserves R during normal exploration, so Impact battles keep the Hook Chain.
This only affected players who had switched Analog Camera on. It is off by default, and zoom in normal exploration is unchanged.
Impact battles fill the screen
Impact battles rendered with a black border along all four edges. They were drawing inside the N64's 4:3 "safe area" — the margin the original developers kept clear for CRT overscan — rather than the full frame, so a strip was trimmed off the top, bottom and both sides. They now use the whole screen.
This applies at every aspect ratio, so on a 4:3 setting Impact battles also gain the margin that used to be trimmed.
This works very well in the fights it has been tried in, but it may not be perfect everywhere. Widening the view shows image that the original developers never expected anyone to see, and only a couple of battles have been checked so far, so it is possible some scene has something untidy near an edge. If you spot anything obviously wrong, please open an issue with your device model and which battle it was.
Nothing else changed. This updates over 1.0.5 normally, and your saves, settings and ROM are untouched.
If you are coming from 1.0.3 or earlier
Three releases have landed in the last few days, so the important one is easy to skip. 1.0.4 fixed the Adreno launch crash: on some Adreno devices the app closed itself a few seconds after starting the game, every time, before the title screen appeared. The fault is in the Qualcomm Vulkan driver rather than the game, so 1.0.4 added two independent ways around it — Graphics -> Framebuffer Effects (On/Off), which works on any device and needs nothing installed, and Settings -> GPU Driver, which runs a Vulkan driver you supply yourself on Adreno hardware.
1.0.4 also fixed the DualSense Edge on Android 12 and earlier, where Circle, R1, Create and Options did nothing. 1.0.5 extended Attack While Moving to upgraded weapons and Yae's bazooka. Full details are in each release's own notes.
