Fast Opus 4.6 Auto-Routing (Claude Code v2.1.36+):

• SUPPORTS_FAST_OPUS feature flag in version detection

  • Detects Claude Code v2.1.36+ which introduced /fast mode for Opus 4.6
  • Enables cost-aware model routing between standard and fast Opus

• select_opus_mode() routing function in orchestrate.sh

  • Conservative routing: defaults to standard (cost-efficient) for all multi-phase workflows
  • Fast only for interactive single-shot Opus queries (no phase context)
  • Never uses fast in autonomous/background mode (no human waiting)
  • Fast Opus is 6x more expensive ($30/$150 vs $5/$25 per MTok)
  • User override via OCTOPUS_OPUS_MODE=fast|standard|auto environment variable

• claude-opus-fast agent type in get_agent_command/get_agent_command_array

  • Maps to claude --print -m opus --fast
  • Pricing tracked as claude-opus-4.6-fast ($30/$150 per MTok) in cost reporting
