Download the single file below and open it in any modern browser — it's the document, the viewer and the editor in one. Shipped files self-update through the signed release channel.

Password-protected decks open again. Since 1.2.0, a deck saved with a
password showed "This file could not start" instead of asking for the
password. It now asks for the password and opens as before. Nothing in the
file was lost: the deck was intact, it just could not show the prompt. -
A password-protected deck that won't open can be moved to the latest
version on bento.page/convert. Drop the.bento.htmland choose "The
same file, on the latest version". The page puts the file's document,
still encrypted and byte for byte, into the newest signed release of its
app. It never asks for the password and never decrypts anything. Open the
new file and enter your password as usual. It works for any Bento file
whose app has a published release, encrypted or not. As always, nothing is
uploaded. An encrypted deck is only moved onto a release that can open it
(1.2.9 or later). -
Security: update this file. This release closes an issue found in our own
review. After updating, open each password-protected deck, unlock it, and
save it once. What the issue was is described here once people have had time to
update. -
A browser too old for Bento now names the right app. The notice it shows
said every file was a spreadsheet; a deck now says it is a presentation. -
A table written without a style opens. A deck from another tool or an AI
agent whose table had no style settings stopped the properties panel from
opening; it now uses the default style. -
Every text field looks the same. Text boxes, dropdowns and text areas
across the editor share one look: the same height, rounded corners, border
and background, and Bento's amber focus ring instead of the browser's blue.
The Appearance menu no longer has the browser's plain look, and in the dark
theme the speaker notes, comment replies, position and size boxes, chart JSON
and the Share name field no longer show a grey browser fill.
