No Xbox, no web session: a shorter sign-in and nothing to renew every 24 hours.
Changed
- Xbox among the monitored platforms now decides whether the Microsoft web session is used. Since 2.0.20 only the Xbox play time and the Xbox lock still need it. With Xbox unticked, the integration runs on the mobile token alone, like the Family Safety app:
- the sign-in is Microsoft's mobile page only, no "Stay signed in?", no minute-long waiting screen;
- no browser cookies are stored in Home Assistant (a reauthentication in this mode removes the ones already there);
- the connection sensor reports
connectedwhenever the mobile API answers (new attributexbox_features); - no Xbox entities are created.
- New installs default to Windows only, so they get that mode unless you tick Xbox.
- Existing installs keep their behaviour: the options show Xbox ticked until you untick it. Untick it if your children have no Xbox, then run Reconfigure once to drop the stored web session. Ticking Xbox later starts a reauthentication to capture it.
Removed
- The legacy add-on URL and API key fields in the setup and options forms. New installs no longer use the Playwright add-on. Entries already on it keep working and move to the native sign-in at their next reauthentication, after which the add-on can be uninstalled. On an HTTP-only instance, leave Xbox unticked: the manual redirect step is then available, since only the mobile token is needed.
Documentation
- README and INSTALL rewritten where they still described the schedules as web-only, plus the new Xbox and web session section.
Tested on an account that loses its web session every 24 hours: the reconfigure in mobile-only mode took a few seconds and cleared the stored session.
