InstallerClean 3.4.0

InstallerClean now offers more of the spare installers it used to hold back.

  • Programs installed from a CD, a DVD, a disc image or a USB stick: their spare installers can now be offered, whether or not the disc or stick is in the drive during the scan. A spare named like the program's own installer is still kept
  • Programs installed without administrator rights, just for the Windows account InstallerClean runs as: their sources are now read and their spares judged like any other program's. A program installed that way by a different account still keeps its spares
  • A program whose source is an http or https web address no longer holds its spares back for that reason alone
  • A program installed for every user, with no saved installer and no list of sources, no longer holds its spares back where it records no folder it was installed from, or one that isn't the Installer folder
  • Reading an empty disc drive or card reader no longer brings up the Windows box saying "There is no disk in the drive", which could stall a scan until it was answered
  • The anonymous report now says which kind of source held files back, and how many of the account's own per-user programs were read. Like the rest of the report it names no program, file or account (the privacy policy lists what it holds)

The changelog has the full list.

Downloads

The apps are unsigned and freshly downloaded files carry the browser's mark, so on first run Windows SmartScreen will usually warn that the publisher is unknown. Click "More info", then "Run anyway".

Build it yourself

Built with .NET SDK 10.0.112 from the v3.4.0 tag. The portable and the command-line tool are single-file builds published with compression on. Release builds are deterministic, so building that tag yourself, on that SDK and with those flags, gives you the same bytes and the same hashes for the portable and the command-line tool; the README's Checking the download itself section has the detail. The installer is a different case: Inno Setup packs it and stamps the build year into it, so don't expect its hash to match.
