This release adds browser-discovered media downloads, custom browser cookie profiles, and start-at-login, with broader improvements to download recovery and release reliability.
New features
- Browser media discovery and handoff
- Find supported video streams on browser pages, including embedded players, and send the page to Firelink's Add window for review.
- Review available formats before starting or queueing the download; direct HLS, DASH, and Smooth Streaming manifest links are also supported.
- Keep the handoff connected to the correct page and the latest player stream.
- Custom browser profile folders for media cookies
- Choose a separate profile folder for each browser, including custom locations such as Opera GX, addressing the profile mismatch reported in #44.
- Use the selected profile for media details, playlists, and downloads; Netscape cookie files remain available.
- Start Firelink at login
- Enable automatic startup from Settings on macOS, Windows, and Linux.
- Login launches can stay in the tray until you open the main window.
Improvements
- Keep downloads and queue work more reliable across restarts, retries, pause/resume races, and app shutdown.
- Keep browser captures pending until Firelink is ready and recover safe handoffs after a restart.
- Improve media authentication recovery when a browser cookie database is unavailable.
- Make Linux package creation and release checks more dependable.
Fixes
- Address the status-bar clipping, sidebar flashing or shifting, and Speed Limiter save problems reported in #42.
- Restore paused media progress after relaunch and stop the Add window from repeating save-folder prompts.
- Reject Torrent files with a zero piece length without interrupting other active transfers.
- Preserve the final download state when app shutdown or a missed completion event races with other actions.
Compatibility
- Use Firelink Companion 2.2.3 with Firelink 1.5.0. The extension is maintained in the Firelink-Extension repository.
