Glass Keep 1.0.9 — Automatic JSON exports and app updates

These apps are client apps only. You need a running Glass Keep server to use them.

Changes

  • Replaces Google Drive/OneDrive cloud connections with Settings → Automatic JSON export. No cloud-provider registration or server-owner credentials are required.
  • Select 1, 7 or 30 days, or Off. An overdue export runs when you return to Glass Keep. The app must be open, signed in and connected; exports do not run while it is closed.
  • Choose export folder on Windows, macOS and Android. Supported Chrome/Edge browsers can also remember a folder; other browsers use their download location. Native defaults remain Downloads/Glass Keep. Configure Syncthing or your sync service yourself.
  • Exports contain owned synced notes, archived notes and embedded attachments. Existing JSON/ZIP imports remain supported. Files are readable JSON with unique filenames; older exports are kept until you remove them.
  • Android launcher artwork now has padding and a matching purple background so it is less zoomed/cropped.
  • Includes Android status-bar spacing and Back-button fixes. Back returns from an opened note to the list and protects unsaved edits.
  • Server 1.0.9 and native clients 1.0.5.

Downloads

Choose Windows x64 for most PCs, Windows ARM64 for Windows on ARM, Android ARM64 APK, Apple Silicon DMG for M-series Macs, or Intel DMG for Intel Macs. Windows portable executables are also included.

Android uses the existing signing key and installs over earlier versions. Android 7–9 needs a chosen folder for automatic export; Android 10+ also supports the Downloads default. Windows installers have no commercial publisher certificate; portable builds require WebView2. Mac clients require macOS 13+, use an ad-hoc local signature and are not Apple-notarized. Open the DMG and drag Glass Keep into Applications; first launch may require Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.

Docker

Use nikunjsingh/glass-keep:1.0.9 or nikunjsingh/glass-keep:latest, available for AMD64 and ARM64. Pull and recreate through Portainer, retaining the existing data volume and environment settings. Update native clients separately to see the new settings. Old cloud environment variables are no longer needed; existing notes and backup files are preserved.

Guides and validation

Automated server/schedule tests and real-browser tests cover account isolation, 1/7/30-day scheduling, overdue exports, failure handling, JSON/ZIP restore, remembered browser folders and native IPC destinations. Client builds verify Windows/Mac compilation, Rust origin/filename checks, Mac package/signature/startup, Android signing and packaged icons. Additional checks on a physical Android 16 phone verified selected-folder JSON saving, remembered access after an app restart, safe-area note layout, Back returning to the notes list, and the padded icon. The compiled Windows ARM64 client also saved valid JSON through the real Rust file-writing command. Android tests used only temporary notes; Mac interactive folder-picker testing remains separate.

Native client builds.
