PHP Monitor 26.09 improves responsiveness and reliability, with somewhat of a reworked but familiar UI. This update also improves how the app handles broken PHP installations and fixes issues with configuration changes, keyboard shortcuts and background refreshes.
What's New in 26.09
- Built with Xcode 27, so ready for macOS Golden Gate. Various parts of the app have been modernized, while remaining the same PHP Monitor you know and love.
- Added support for Homebrew 7, so you will no longer be warned about incompatibilities if you upgraded via
brew upgrade. - Reworked the Settings, Domains and command progress windows while keeping their familiar layout and controls.
- Improved responsiveness during startup, PHP detection and domain scanning by moving more work into the background.
- PHP Monitor now offers to open PHP Version Manager when you try to switch to a broken PHP installation, so you can review and repair it.
- Fixed crashes caused by missing or malformed PHP version information. Broken installations remain available for repair in PHP Version Manager.
- Improved recovery after failed PHP installations, upgrades and removals. PHP Monitor refreshes the installation status before allowing further actions.
- Fixed overlapping background refreshes that could show outdated PHP information or interfere with a PHP version switch.
- Fixed the global keyboard shortcut remaining inactive after the menu was rebuilt. Recording a shortcut now only captures keystrokes in the Settings window.
- Fixed inconsistent saves when changing PHP limits, switching units or toggling the Unlimited option.
- PHP Doctor now shows a loading indicator until its initial checks finish, instead of briefly reporting that there are no warnings.
- Reduced the work needed to check Homebrew service status by querying the services managed by PHP Monitor.
- Fixed command execution hanging when a command produces large amounts of output.
How to install or upgrade
If you have an existing PHP Monitor.app in your Applications folder, you can use the built-in updater. Click on the icon in your menu bar and choose "Check for updates..." to initiate this process, or wait for a notification.
If you haven't installed PHP Monitor yet, you can download the latest release. Place the app in your Applications folder. You may want to consult the README file for more information.
